I would thought along with SJ they are your two other small forwards starting on the field. Obviousily it depends alot on the way the coach see the year.

He needs to ask himself questions if he thinks its time to get game time into Duncan, Menzel, T.Hunt ect or does he keep going with the Wojinski, Milburn, Byrnes, Stokes type players.

+Varcoe 2010.

Since when?
Increase midfield time sure, but he isn't a certainty to dominate games through that midfield or to have such a substantial increase.

He will play plenty of time on the wing next year, bookmark it.

Use to dominate junior games on the wing and was a true midfielder back than. Havnt read alot into his preseason but that would be the only thing stopping him. They require speed and youth into the midfield and he matches that. Will rest forward for sure, because he can kick goals. But his position will be midfield IMO. Wait and see.

I put 2010 next to Varoe's name for a reason. Though i'm not sure he will play the TOG that some ppl think he will in the midfield.... Maybe... though i can see other options.

Why is everyone so certain on Riewoldt?

After the nude photo scandal I would have though that he would have a lot on his plate next year. Also he hasn't got DP (obviously) so he is behind Chapman, Sylvia Goodes; etc. in that regard. He is 28 so improvement will not be huge (he averaged 94 last year).

In saying all this he may be the top scoring forward in the competition, although that is a big may IMO.

What are your thoughts and are you locking him in this year?

You drop out the game he got injured, and the two upon his return (from a fairly harrowing injury mind you), and the guy averaged 110. Him and Chappy will be the only two super premiums up forward this year for mine.

Fair enough. But he did get injured and that can be used against him when selecting him for my DT, it increases the chances of him getting injured again. He is 29. He won't be getting any less injury prone and won't improve beyond 5 ppg. I am willing to bet my avatar that Riewoldt will average 99 or less.

Also, he has added pressure from the nude photos. That may shatter his confidence and I dont think he will be able to perform at his absolute best because of this. He is a confidence player.

Just my thoughts but IMO there better options.

I can see it now, Fremantle vs St Kilda, grand final 2011, Freo up by 2, Riewoldt takes a grab 35 out right in front, time runs out. Riewoldt comes in to take the kick and Ballantyne chirps up "I've seen your willy!", he misses and Freo are premiers.

I think Franklin is a chance to also be a super premium. Taking away his first 2 games (slow start to the year, injury interrupted and suspension) and he averaged 103.26. Only needs to improve by 7ppg to become a super premium, and with the hawks for some reason expected to head up the ladder, it isn't out of the question.

Who? Chapman possibly, who already has his own (well documented) risks. Riewoldt is the most proven forward in fantasy footy. Is underpriced, and your reasons for not picking him are based on an injury from which he has fully recovered.
Him playing out majority of the season is likely, and if he does, expect him to finish in the top 3 forwards and average over 100.

Definitely a chance no doubt.

Steve Johnson putting in a full pre-season and has been included in the midfield drills. Could be a good early upgrade target after round 6.

Definitely some potential upside there. Just don't like the idea of ending the season with Chapman and Johnson in the FWDs (Round 22). Reckon SJ will only appeal to those who are not considering Chappie - pretty risky strategy. Then again, Chappies hammies could go *ping* in round 5.....

I like SJ as a Chapman alternative.
Fit and firing, a top 7 forward. His p/s suggests he can go up a notch from 2010, definitley a guy on my radar.

I see the upside, I just worry about the games missed. With byes being an issue, durability may be even more important than in previous years.

I must confess I have been burnt by StevieJ in seasons bygone... no harm in spreading the love though. :)

However there will be an upgrade window from rounds 7-9 to inject some keeper scoreboard pressure into your lineup. All teams still have at least one bye to go so I'd be favouring players from the Bulldogs, North and Geelong where their second byes are late in the season.
