Alright since partial lockout I have for some reason been inclined to play around with my foward structure.

I had SJ and Porps as M6

I have really been thinking long and hard about Robbie Gray this year, I'm thinking of bringing him and Dangerfield in for Porps and SJ, good move you think, or go with SJ and upgrade Porps down the track?

Danger at his price seems that if you didnt start him and he fires then you have made a mistake.

Thoughts?

I'd have thought that if Porp plays OK for three games he will gain more value than Danger ever will.
On the other hand if you want a keeper Porp may not be able to better an average of 80 or so.

I wouldnt be getting Danger just so as he increases in Value, i would be getting him as a keeper.

Porps on the other hand i would definately be upgrading to a premium.

Obviously if Gray and Danger both become keepers which they could then this would be the way to go.

I don't like Adelaide being in the first lot of byes.

You can't just trade them into guys that won't be playing in either one of the following 2 weeks. You would have to cover it somehow.

But your picking them as keepers. So i think the better idea would be to keep them through the byes if they are your only R11 players. 2 in each position is ideal.

I don't think it's a big problem. There are no GWS keepers (yet) that we know of. Palmer? Mid-pricer to be harvested since I doubt he is good for 100+ for the year. The rookies will of course be prime candidates for culling before Round 11. And I imagine most teams will have D/P players up the wazoo anyway.

What forward line is better on your opinion boys?

Currently have the following:

SJ, BUDDY, GOODES, FYFE, MARTIN, PORPS, KENNEDY (D.SMITH, HALL )

OR

BUDDY, GOODES, FYFE, MARTIN, GRAY, DANGERFIELD, KENNEDY ( D.SMITH, HALL )

SJ obviously the better forward, I see him averaging 100 + Porps 70 = 170

Danger 90 ave + gray 90 ave = 180, but come end of year do you think its best to start SJ and upgrade Porps using a trade, or take the risk with Gray and Danger hoping they become keepers, because thats obviously what i will be buying them as.

To say Danger is going to avg 90 is a very big call, I have porps, for 3 reasons

1. Cheap and will score 60-80
2. I dont like the forward rookies
3. Will play every week

Danger will ave close to that IMO, if you look at my forward structures, i will be playing a rookie regardless, and i am happy with my forward rookies, If you nail Danger and Gray has a year like his last 10 rounds last year and averages 100 like he did then you are well infront, I am not sure how Ebert and McCarthy will affect Grays mid time, also Hartlett back fit, tough one.

seen you ask this a few times, obviously it's still doing your head in.

Look at it from this perspective maybe;

Assuming all players stay fit for most of the year your first fwd line has 2 potential upgrades as i doubt Porps will become a keeper, this gives you a great opportunity to either snap up a couple of fallen premiums or 1 player who is gunning it in the fwds that you don't have as well as a fallen.

For me it just allows you more opportunity to trade in some 'must-have' fwds, whereas your 2nd team really only has 1 more spot to fill as you get Danger with the end goal he becomes a keeper. So you're kind of restricted with getting that gun fwd you may not have picked up.

Not sure if that all makes sense or if you even follow that theory, but for mine, both fwd lines will avg similarly, but first is more open to improvement.

They are all great points, on the flip side to that i suppose if one of them fired (Gray / Danger ) one doesnt since the two combos roughly cost the same price it wouldn't hurt me too much to upgrade the one that doesnt perform, Oh well 3 days to think about it.

Good point.

For the record i have, and will keep, Gray.

None of the others though.

If you think Gray and Danger will both average 90 than you should be picking both.

dustin martin vs cyril rioli
????

dusty played 22 games last year in the midfield and could increase his average.
cyril before last season was a top 5 scoring forward. is it worth the punt on cyril or just playing it safe with dusty?

It's in the rookies 2012 thread. The source is the twitter feed of the AFL media manager (or similar positon). It appears to be very official.

Elevated but not named?

Might still be worth having on the bench but there's Aaron Hall and Dickson which have been named to play.

Milera doesn't look likely but who knows what the new coach is thinking.

ye JB, not sure what the play is??

why upgrade a dude and have him play as emerg. every week...seems silly...

could be another Podsiadly/rockliff from couple off years back scenario...not named rd 1 but dominate like rd 2/3 +

what you think??

Pods/Rocky were killing it in the pre season though. But Couch simply isn't in the same league as them. But that extra 13K makes all the difference in my team and it means I could get Kennedy's 116.....but I think I'll pass on Couch...no matter how tempting he still is

OK Robbie Gray owners, what are you doing?

I loved my team with him in & now with this hamstring tightness I am worried it could be setting a tone for the year.
So, Im weighing up the punt on it just being a week & I take Dickson's score (wish I had Kennedy), then get Gray as a good Point of Difference back next week, OR, downgrade to Dangerfield and walk away never looking back.

What do you think & what are you doing yourselves?
