Most of all though, congratulations to our East Side S33 Larrikin award winner, MP_, who probably describes themselves as a larrikin in every sense of the word. A truly deserving winner, MP_ has consistently shown up through the good, the bad and the ugly and has made this season his own. An across the board contributor, you can find MP_ in every match thread, engaging in various ways and putting his own unique spin on every match thread we enter.

Can't wait for what you continue to bring to our match threads in S34 and beyond!

First Qualifying Final
East Side Phoenix 14.11.95 lost to Dragons FFC 21.7.133

The Dragons got off to a flyer, kicking 6 goals to 3 in the first quarter.

We worked hard in the second quarter, scoring 7 goals and narrowed the gap to 4 points. jackenny was the star scoring 3 goals! However, the Dragons pushed ahead in the third quarter. We went ahead with another goal by jackenny but then the Dragons overrun us.

The match was still finely poised with only a 4 goal difference. But it was not meant to be.

So we have a second chance against the Demons. 32 disposals by Agent93 , 5 tackles by por_please_ya and the 4 goals by jackenny provides positive signs. Retiring legend larrikin had 110 in DT as well!

Second Elimination Final
East Side Phoenix 15.9.99 defeated Mount Buller Demons 6.8.44

We had another chance after our loss against the Dragons the previous week. We had previously suffered a big loss against the Demons and were looking out for revenge.

We had our best win of the season! We scored multiple times in the first quarter and extended our lead to a 5 goal lead at half time. We had a tendency to allow comebacks, but Shermy had done his homework - he brilliantly restricted the Demons to only 3 behinds in the third quarter!

Itsmyshow pulled out all of the tricks, scoring 6 goals. @MannumPower and Zoops had 22 touches, and larrikin , por_please_ya and the Captain had 24 tackles between us.

We forge onwards! We had slayed the dragon and it was time for us to dare to dream against another team we struggle to beat often, the Baghdad Bombers.

Second Preliminary Final
East Side Phoenix 17.6.108 defeated Baghdad Bombers 15.10.100

We came into the Second Preliminary with anticipation for a very good game. We had lost twice against the Bombers before, but confidence was high going to Baghdad, with hopes it would be third time lucky.

It was a tight affair from the very start - we trailed the Bombers early but Itsmyshow brought us back into line with one of his signature goals. Two goals at the end of the first and we were 10 points up. The Bombers came back in the second quarter but we restricted them to 4 goals, and were only 4 points behind.

It was up to Premiership quarter. Was the Fat Lady singing yet? Time would tell.

We went 3 goals behind and all hope seemed lost… and then league legend jackenny scored 2 quick goals to bring us back within contention. Then an INCREDIBLE 4 goals in a row by Drunkgoliath , Le Grille , Itsmyshow and Zoops . We were 20 points ahead! Inevitably the Bombers tried crawling their way back into the game, but we kept an 8 point advantage for the final quarter.

In a back-and-forth final quarter it went down to the wire. And who was the hero? It was the amazing legs of jackenny again! Holding on right to the death and when the final siren sounded we were 8 points up. We'd made it! WE’D MADE THE FLIPPING GRAND FINAL!!!!!!!!!!

MP_ demolished his opponent with 29 disposals (22 by hand!) and Itsmyshow and jackenny scored 3 goals apiece.

An incredible on and off field performance. Things were coming together and the Grand Final was up against the Roys. Could we actually do it?!

So here we were; our first Grand Final in over 4 years. We had beaten the Roys earlier in the season but knew that this would be an entirely different challenge. We did go a goal up at the main break but it wasn't meant to be, despite showing some great spirit.

It's better to focus on the positives, the team will be better for the experience. And the highlight for the match for us was Itsmyshow scoring 7 goals. We'll be doing everything possible to get him one step further and win the Fred next season. The Captain had 31 possessions and por_please_ya 9 tackles. There waa also some great link up play between Agent93 and Le Grille .

There have been some brilliant performances by the team this season which have been well rewarded by 3 All SFA inclusions. It's been a great season and we hope everyone enjoyed it!

Here we have our final award of the night - it's the Biggie-est Cup! Named after Biggie himself, this award is as prestigious as it gets and is awarded thanks to a top secret formula that takes into account several aspects of each Qootballer's season.

Without further ado, let's check out the final leaderboard and congratulate our winner! It is the dearly departing, East Side Legend, who had an absolute stellar on-field season and a deserved All-SFA selection to boot. Despite a strong showing from the entire Phoenix midfield all season, this legend stood tall and consistently averaged almost 80pts in the East Side metric.

Congratulations Agent93 ! Way to go out on top!*

Well that concludes our 2-day mega festival, thanks to all the many SFA legends that joined us, as well as our fantastic S33 squad. Thanks wiz, I did get the massive rub of the sim this season, and here's hoping my replacement in the middle gets 80% of the simluck I've had this season.

Congratulation to to MP_ for picking up the larrikin, which is the true best and fairest of the side. The sim's random, but having your own teammates pick you as the best makes you far more worthy.

Best of luck to you Phoenix in S34, you've got a fantastic list of recruits which have provided the SFA with far more expansion than the wives and girlfriends of the 5 actual posters at OOB.

Agent93 has always been regarded highly in Sweet and an elite leader. Someone I was defs looking forward to playing alongside. Do we need to do a KP style thread to get you to do another season?

Cheers for the award , to be honest this is a win for mental health, this place is an outlet for my constant battles with the black dog. Unbeknown to many my humour hides a lot of my own struggles and this forum and this team help me escape my own mind at times. Anyway I can wait to spam match threads again next season.
