I didn’t say the league was at fault as they followed the rules but why is it the league treats clubs differently. They tried to sink the boots into KP and probably hoped they folded, yet they allow East Keilor to play over the points for a number of games and don’t punish them at all. Surely that’s not right. The EDFL clearly favour certain clubs and don’t treat all clubs equal. For a big organisation it’s a joke..
Therein lies the problem. If the EDFL governed by the rule book there would be no issue. However when the board is full of socialists, social workers and public servants...what do you expect.

Anyone have any reports from the matches on the weekend. I was away and only seen scores.

I wasn't at the game on the weekend but heard East Sunbury have had a few players return from injury including last years bnf winner and have recruited a few players mid-season.

My take is that they had a lot of Under 18 players playing last year in their senior side and this year they don't have an 18s team so those boys have moved across to Sunbury Lions in the Ballarat league. Hearing that they are now filling those spots left and finally starting to get near full strength. Expecting them to be much more competitive in the back half of the season.

Northern v Sunbury Kangaroos. At 5pm tomorrow we will know if Sunbury have anything to worry about come finals. For me, the Saints have a few good players still missing, but I can’t see them getting up even though it’s on their home deck. Sunbury by 35

Districts v Sunbury East. Easts played a beauty last week and I expect them to do a number on Disricts who had the worst score line for a districts team in many years last week. easts by 25

Haddy v KP. Haddy to account for KP, comfortably by 175.

Massive margin in the NS v SK game. I think a lot of people don't realise just how strong the RDFL is amongst the better sides. I'm not surprised SK are on top of the ladder, but that win today was pretty emphatic. Watched a bit online and they just seemed to do as they pleased. Will be hard to beat this year.

Anyone at SK will tell you they are a 8-10 goal better side than last year Auck. Recruited extremely well. Would of went well this year in the RDFL. Was always going to dominate this division. Everyone else playing for second, will be good to see how they go next year up a div

I thought their side from last year would play finals in EDFL div 2. Much better than results showed. Good to see them going so well, but they'll need to recruit again to be competitive in Div 1 if they do win it.
Yes even last years side would of been up there with Roxy and ES for sure. But this year they are just about 10 goals better than anyone.

Mel, SK recruited well and were always going to be the barometer in this division 3. Guys like Quigley and Badderly are above div3 footy. Plus they have others.

I know it’s the process but think they should have went into div2 to fill the bye.

I watched on Facebook. Yes they did as they pleased. I hope there is a copy of the game for northern players to watch because some of the players would be embarrassed. Effort is one thing but the video doesn’t lie, there was hardly any skills perfectly executed and it wasn’t solely pressure. You need only watch the game I was gobsmakcked , it was like watching boys to men. One good skill execution was sabatino’s Goal, it was a pearler. Other than that Northern are way off. Congrats to Kangaroos, they recruited specifically to win, and that they will. Just can’t get over the poor skills by 90% of the players. Are players out because I saw a few new players. .?

Hey Joey, do you think SK are a level above this division and a level above previous years premiers as in RP, Jacs etc.

My point is I see div2 (which is div3) footy as a competition which should see more competitive games and clubs keeping spending to a minimum to build up or stay alive. It’s never great seeing big results in div2 footy as although it’s still competitive footy some players are playing solely for the enjoyment.

Has the 3rds competition seen a decline in div2 footy with more teams entering a 3rds side..

Cheers

Agree Auk, I spoke to a long time Rupo bloke yesterday who reckons Rupo would still beat the current SK side by 10 goals plus, the RDFL top 6 would hold their own in the EDFL Div 1 he reckons. Surely SK are unbackable from here?

Sounds like something someone from rupo would say. They should probably worry about beating the sides in their own league.

Will there be a Div 2 next season? Surely the league looking at merging Div 1 and Div 2.

Cant have the potential to have a 6 team league

From what they displayed on Saturday and the week before, they are a level above this level this year. In 2017, Jacana were very strong as were Coburg, so I think they are on par those teams that year. I think the standard dropped in 2018 not across the board just at the very top, apologies to Roxy and ES.

They are the most complete side I’ve seen in This division. Even this time I feel would be very competing in div 1.
If clubs have a policy of building up and or staying up of course you will get big differences in results. It’s obvious the teams that want to go up, they need to spend and get decent recruits. There will always be a club that does it, although it wasn’t really the case last year and Roxy are making a decent go of it up a div this year.

It’s obvious the clubs that want to tread water and those that just want to survive. From my point, it’s a shame there is such a gap at 3rd div. The div was supposed to remove the big thrashings, but Sunbury have taken it to another level.

I keep hearing more new clubs coming in, not sure if true, but cant see this happening. Think about it, would the EDFL do it? I doubt it, it’s almost an admission they got it wrong by Into do div 2. and they won’t do it.
