EDFL Div 2 discussion 2026

And the newly created premier B 18.5 competition hasn’t helped either. Let’s be honest if things don’t change within the next 5 years some clubs will ultimately fold up without 18.5 coming through. Great stuff EDFL
Its ok Turbo, the EDFL have said they have a working group working on reviewing if they need to review the juniors. Then they'll review the review and decide if they review it, then review the results and review that. So by 2031 we might see something implemented. Just hope some of these clubs cam hold on, heaps are not fielding sides across all age groups, while other field 3 or 4

Haha. I like the premier B competition for 2nd sides so they play each other and clubs they associate more with rather than playing div2 sides in horrible games and not great surroundings either.
However on the other hand certain clubs have no 18.5 although we know they have tried so hard to achieve this but the bigger clubs have 2 sides, and that close to probably 60 kids when allowing some could be playing the odd senior game or Coates league. AND let’s not forget clubs senior sides all play with same points so how is that fair? It’s a compromised league and clearly favours the bigger clubs and the league doesn’t see a problem?? Ummm

the youth (&parents) of today have little to no resilience, they want to win they want to be surrounded by victory.
If they know that the team may struggle, they seek alternate opportunities, such as continuing in another league that has 19s or moving to a club in a lower division or a club that has two teams.
Some just stop and work.
The reality is, the 18s/19s age group is the most difficult and perhaps the reason why some clubs have consistent 3rds or are growing a 3rds program.

As a former Keilor Park player from a long time ago I was disgusted that Keilor juniors are training on the Keilor Park No 2 oval… especially when KP are struggling with numbers for their junior program….

In all reality a club with a strong junior program is going well if they get 2 or 3 senior players and 5 reserves player come through in any year and after 5 years you might only have 1 or 2 senior players from each year and maybe 2 or 3 reserves players… but juniors are so important for club culture.

Glenroy & Northern predominantly have struggled with 18.5 numbers in the past. Districts is a surprise as the other year they had 2 16sides with one in div1 if I’m correct.
Hadfield area not easy for this age group..
Has northern failed to field teams before? What years?

Keilor Park beat Reservoir NFNL Div 3 71 - 63
Glenroy beat Woodend RDFL 84 - 72
Sunbury kangaroos beat Longwood by 100
Was at the Glenroy game. They looked like a well oiled machine will be good this year.

Managed to sneak by Hadfield in the way home after and caught the last quarter and bit against Romsey. Romsey beat them hard on the transition and looked too good up forward. Although I didn’t see the General John Lindon out there or the Polizzi brothers so Haddy maybe missing a couple

Khoder Taleb back at Northern Saints after being cleared to West Coburg. Second year in a row he’s committed and done pre season elsewhere and then gone back when it’s gotten a bit hard. What is wrong with some of these players? Honestly insane how little they think things through and think this behaviour is acceptable.

If Northern had decent standards they’d tell him he’s burnt his bridges and to F off but I’m sure they’ll spruik it on their socials 🤣🤣🤣

More than welcome back at the club. We’re one family. He communicated his reasons on leaving and is and was nothing but respectful, have him back with open arms. Slots perfectly at centre half forward. Thanks to west coburg for getting him as fit as he has ever been. Different khoder coming in 2026.

grubba94 I wonder how the other players feel after him leaving and making his way back? How do you reckon round 1 looks for Northern Saints?

Jai Bahnert has put in transfer in to Keilor Park from Aberfeldie. Think will be a good recruit for Keilor Park, seen as a premier seniors player.
