It was definitely not family friendly. I bet I heard everyone around me swear at least once at the game or specific players. Every second person smoked.
If Craigieburn move up to the Premier Division next year, their supporters need to start behaving.
Smoking cigarettes geeZ i bet if it was warmer weather you may have been exposed to tattoos as well.

I actually was at game and thought it was a disappointing crowd very small and not alot of noise, when i first joined the eagles when they were in a grade there were regularly 200 vocal fans in front of rooms, haven't seen that in years.

On the game hillside would be kicking themselves at missed opportunity in front of goal really could have won. There midfield is kick and hard at it lead by Number 25 who is a gun really lacking a quality forward. Kite was unstoppable playing at chb and robbo up forward is a massive find for the eagles massive tank and elite skills.

Are Northern worse than last season?

Has anyone who's seen them play give any insight into if they even look like they have some cohesion and look likely to improve, otherwise what was the point of the upheaval during the off season?

Good on ya Willo. Fair reply mate.

Smoking is not a big issue to many but there are rules now that you can't smoke near a footy ground or clubrooms. Need to be a certain distance similar to AFL. I guess it's a difficult one to police. I wasn't there but just stating a general rule in this new age of footy rules.
Any clubs that have idiot supporters constantly swearing should be spoken to by an offical or even another supporter and told to behave as in the end the clubs reputation is at stake for supporters and players. For the record it's not direct at particular clubs.

Yesterday at the game I was at I seen a supporter wearing a club top who was standing in the path of umpires as they left the ground at half time. He was just giving them a mouthful from 1 Mt away. Did anyone include there umpire escort say something. NO not one word. I was only 5 metres away and stared at him as to say your an idiot. I was thinking of going over and giving him a piece of my mind but refrained as he was a bit older and I know what I would have done. Absolute tosser.,

Did you see the hit by May from Gold Coast last night. Was very fair in years gone by but these days his out for weeks. His a great kid and not an aggressive person but plays the game hard.

Are Northern worse than last season?

I watched them yesterday. Played well in the 1st half and were right in it. They look like the average age was about 19 and it showed in the 2nd half when they fell away. Will they improve? Good question. I would suggest the only thing they'd want from this year is to survive and then build from that.

Looking at the Hadfield line up from yesterday it looks like they're going with youth as well. The round 8 and 17 clashes between the two are going to have a massive bearing who drops back to div 3.

The big worry for both clubs looks like depth. Haddy reserves losing by 231 points with no 18s and Northern by 134, but at least at this stage they still have an 18s side.

Hey Mel, how does Hadfield have no 18?? Have they dropped the ball as they usually have good junior numbers..

Don't know how it happened mate. I think they've played in 7 or 8 of the last 10 U18 GF's. I guessed it came about when the clubs juniors got promoted to A grade and copped some horrid thrashings and possibly left. I note they have no 16s either.

Was thoroughly enjoyable...

Hey akkaps, yes always been that way out at there home ground. I haven't ventured out for many years but IMO that side of things needs to be improved for them to move to the next step. I'm sure all the Craigieburn followers will jump on me, but footy is changing and off field must be a place for families to feel comfortable at.
Why don't u go to Craigieburn home games and see for your self why u listen the sooks who lose games at Craigieburn and have cheap shots at the football club.

Hey turbo if the bloke was out of line why did no one from Paco and your self pull him in line.

The upheaval wasn't just about the quality of the team the club put out. It was about rebuilding the club as a whole, improving the atmosphere and removing the bad elements. Some very good footballers were moved on for reasons other than their ability.

The club this year is a much more pleasant place to be around then it has been in a long time. Training has a great atmosphere and Thursday's night after training the number of guys staying back for selection is over double last year.

The senior side is incredibly young and lacking in key position players. But the effort is there and improvement will come.

Hey Swans, I didn't mention the club he was from mate but he wasn't wearing a black & red top.. Anyway let's move on I've made my point and in some way saying incidents are not just isolated to 1 or 2 clubs which in sure you agree.

I popped into Windy Hill bar tonight for a couple of beers after work and hearing a bad ugly incident occurred in the reserves match at Craigieburn. The league is none to happy with ongoing issues and there could be major implications I'm hearing, especially after the sad news of the young kid in the Northern league. Will the league say enough is enough! My mail is telling me a decision could be breaking news that will turn division1 on its head. If true, good on the league for making a brave/gusty decision that will benefit all true footy followers.
Apparently from what I'm told some clubs have had enough warnings and continue to do nothing to stamp out this type of behaviour and will pay the ultimate sacrifice..
Is anyone able to shed any light on the incident.. I'm sure one of you know something..

One I did not see this incident you talk about so will not comment .Maybe the EDFL can take a leaf out of the NFL and other leagues and video senior games which stops the majority of incidents but it also highlights sub standard umpiring and makes the tribunals job a lot easier because it is there for all to see.

It's a good idea Oldman but it will come at a cost to all clubs, but agree it's the way forward. However I don't think the reserves games are videotaped just seniors. Senior game I'm told was played without any issues.

I think the League wants to be careful not too overstep their powers.

Hey 1061, what we ALL need to consider here is the league and clubs are a business. The first rule of business is SAFETY. This is the paramount. It ultimately over rides everything else including profits. You are legally responsible to ensure a safe working environment which includes football. You must legally act immediately otherwise you could be in huge trouble under the legal system.

A small minority of people can cause a business to go under and the same might be said about sporting clubs & leagues. I know my workplace has a zero tolerance with regards to workplace safety.

If what I'm hearing is correct, then using there powers to the full extent is the best option IMO.

Enough from me on this subject.

As a Business the Clubs are like a franchisee while the EDFL are the top end management but the Franchises are the front line of the business. If there are rules for behaviour of supporters then the EDFL may have a case but if the rules are not clear all the EDFL are doing is wasting time and resources.

Much like the so called rule about Clubs being named after the Suburb they are based in, Northern Saints!

Also does anyone else think the top 3 is cemented? Craigieburn, oak park and westmeadows in no particular order
