Drove past Doutta's training last night and noticed alot of there key senior players off the track or leave the track early. Are there a few injury clouds down at cooper st? Or are they boys just being cautious for this sat's big clash. Can anyone shed some light on the situation....?

It was a old fashion pie night and boys did't want to miss out.mmmmmmmmm

Ive got a CHB for you. Her name is Daniel Mangan. He plays for Spotswood in the WRFL. Very overpaid and they are keen to get rid of him in order to spend their money on players of worth, rather than spending it on 6' 4" players who has symbols for hands and runs like a 3 legged Bali dog. Very easy to coach as he hangs off every word the coach says. He needs a little encouragement at times though as he gets down on himself (normally bcos he has had 5 or 6 kicked on him) and struggles with confidence. He does love it however when the coach uses him as an example. He really likes to feel wanted. If you can get behind him, Id thoroughly recommend 'Mango'. He would really bolster your 2's.

I can get his contact details so PM if you want them.

Doubt you'd have any takers there Beazer!

Mango is much more suited to the hard stuff in the WRFL! :D:D

Living in Airport West I heard the same thing. Apparently, capsicum spray was used and it was ugly. Heard it was a few of the younger Reserves blokes from the Eagles and I know Philpott was involved, a Reserves coach Jay Monaghan was hit and a few others were attacked. Again, only what I heard from a neighbour who follows Airport West. Can any shed some light? Was there anybody injured?

He is a dud. Spotty said they would pay you guys $300 a game to have him back. Do you guys need a useless CHB with missing teeth and 70's pubes? Not sure who is worse, him or Tom Berzins, the canteen lady down at Abers.

Tips for Round 1

Avondale v West Coburg
Doutta v Marby
Oak Park v Abers
Keilor vs Greenvale
Strathmore vs C'Burn

I tip:

Avondale over a Tough West Coburg (9 points)

Marby over Doutta by 20 points (Game will be tight all day with Marby being fitter)

Oak Park to beat Abers - Raso to lead the way on his first game 18 points

Keilor in a tight clash over Greenvale 3 points - Greenvale are great but this is my smokey

C'Burn over Strathmore just becuase C'Burn will have blokes playing for the jumper and more passion 35 points

5 will miss saturday and a week or two more, bad start to the injury list for the stars but starting to come accustom to it. looking forward to round 1 should be an interesting game at buckley park would expect a decent crowd with the weather forecast being mid 20's. douttas have had a large preseason would expect them to finish the game out. good luck doutta boys lets start the season with a bang and shut all the chat about how good marby to what about douttas.
sh t i missed the pie night general, did you make up for my absence.

Look Beazer,

Cut Tom Berzins some slack for god’s sake – after all he is the angel orthodontist who bought home the rounded unit that holds all things musant! He can sometimes be excused for connecting all art to the stupeflip!

That my friend is where his painting career began, with walls of Franklin Squib and ba ba man hop of that branch and bark. Down squib lad, now back!!!

Mango on the other hand – i'm lost for words and confused!!!

Which players from the stars will miss this week?

What was the fight about and how did it start? Anyone actually hurt or charged?

You are talking another lingo mate. Any chance of translating that to English? Good old Tommy, hes a character. Not his fault he was born a female in a males body (sort of). Apparently he knitted his mum a jumper for her birthday this year. He can do it all..................... except play footy.

Quality post Beazer, one of the best i've read!

MATTY PILLIOS'S - A GRADE ROUND 1 TIPS ARE –

GREENVALE DEF Keilor by 10 points.

This will be an absolute classic with Greenvale just getting the chocolates. The Jets will have to be at their best and they will win an absolute thriller. Bloomfield and Potter in the ruck will try to out muscle Toby Wright and Clinnick. Expect a big crowd at Keilor for Rick Marcy’s 300th. Tom Jorgenson on Damien Houlihan will be another great duel and Eric Kuret will match up on Rick Marcy. Two of the best coaches in the business will also have an interesting duel tactically and this will also be a major factor on who finishes in front.

MARIBYRNONG PARK DEF Doutta Stars by 30 points.

If you want to watch one of the fieriest matches in local football history, head down to Buckley Park this Saturday. Doutta’s early injuries are a concern and I think with Marby Park being close to full strength, will break away in the second half and get a convincing first win in A Grade. If Carey dominates it could be a different story and Pilling will have to be on his toes all day. Ben Kinnear vs James Philpott will be a battle of strength and this winner of this duel will go along way to who is in front come final siren. I am looking forward to Heath Ayres vs Aaron Ramsay also head on and Marby Park’s defence will have to negate Al Faraj, Luke Wilson, Sam Tankard and Tom King to finish in front. Expect a massive crowd and a great contest.

AVONDALE HEIGHTS DEF West Coburg by 2 points.

Another two sides who clearly do not like one another. West Coburg beat up the Heights in more ways than one in a fiery clash late last year and coach Paul Houston will be seeking revenge. One of the key match ups will be Tony “The Russian” Rosios vs Adriano Mastropasqua and Wests will be wanting to win the centre clearance to be a chance. Vizzini will get the job on Leigh Owen and both forward lines boast dangerous forward lines with Elvy Destonovic, Ben Power, Danny Messaike and Ash Flavel down one end and John Angelopolous, Cam Trewin and Adrian Aparo kicking goals for the Heights. In what will be an arm wrestle. The Heights will sneak home with the home ground advantage proving the difference.

STRATHMORE DEF Craigieburn by 30 points.

Take a look at the last four outings and Strathmore have an average winning margin of 18 goals against Craigieburn. The Mores have been going along quiet nicely and will again be seeking goals from Harvey, Winter and May. Tim Hutchison and Luke Wilkinson will have their hands full with Ex Saints AFL big man Barry Brooks. In the middle Scott Nugent will try to negate Xavier Campbell and Craigieburn are also going to need a match up for Jordan Doering who is one of the Premier players in the competition and Nick Mazzeo will get the job on Eagles skipper Daniel Nolan. Can the Eagles kick enough goals to beat the Mores at home? I think they will just fall short.

ABERFELDIE DEF Oak Park by 11 points.

Another two of A Grades arch rivals line up for Round 1. This time last year Oak Park embarrassed Aberfeldie on a Sunday in front of a massive crowd and this is going to be in the back of Aberfeldie’s minds. They have recruited awesomely in the pre-season and if skipper Shane Sheppard can perform at his old stomping ground the Two Blues will be a big chance. McKee, Watson and Lerm will be too good for the Oakers talls. Aaron Willoughby will get the job on Oakers skipper Blake Albones and El Houli will take probably Jack Pascu if he goes up forward. The centre will be a great clash with Frank Raso needing to be negated. The midfield of Gleeson, Boakes and Ryan will cause Aberfeldie headaches and Palippaumini will definitely get a tagging job. This game could go either way and I think Aberfeldie have had a better preseason and may just sneak over the line.

MATTY PILLIOS'S - B GRADE TIPS FOR ROUND 1

2008 Round 1 B Grade Predictions -

AIRPORT WEST
DEF Keilor Park by 25 points.

The Eagles have recruited sensationally in the off field and this will be a great contest between two clubs that boast fantastic people. The emotions for Airport West in playing against Marcus Barclay who was nothing short of brilliant over the past two years & against Marco Castello, which will set the game up for a thriller.
Two questions about the other two best Marks involved in this match being PAPPA and MERCURI.
Will Marcus Pappa line up for Airport West?
More than likey NO. The man has had a bad run with injuries and if he runs out he won't be 100%, but he is an absolute genius and can do anything.
Mark Mercuri - Will the fans see him out there? YES they will.
Mercs will play for the Devils and he will be massive for them. A class act even with limited preperation. Mercs will be picked up by Maribyrnong Premiership Half Back Jed Fraser, I am guessing.
Fishernan vs Lorimer will be a great duel, as will Broomfield on Marcus Barclay. I think McBride will be a hard match up for the Devils and I think Airport West will just be too good all around.
Best of Luck to Marcus Barclay.

TAYLORS LAKES DEF Northern Saints by 19 points.

The Lakers will be too good at home in front of their passionate crowd. They will dominate the air with Patrick Wiggens and Jacob Karoneos, but will face stiff opposition from a club playing their first match together and hungry for success. In the middle Adam Cantelmi, Daniel Rajab, Mark De Sousa and Ben Hutchison will face a good midfield in Andrew Bouzokas, Adrian Luvara, Mark Tsionakis and Ash Mills.
Cos Fedele might have to get Matt Morelli across Half Forward and Alex Tortora's & Matthew O'Connors playing experience will be vital. In a close contest the Lakers talls and home ground advantage will be the difference.

WESTMEADOWS DEF Hadfield by 66 points.

Should be a tough physical contest, but Westy at home are always hard to beat and have recruited brilliantly. Young guns David Kovacevic and Nathan McIntyre will be fired up and Hadfield will need to pay close attention to Nick "Turbo" Chalmers.
Can Hadfield stop Roden Aldridge, Mick Gadsen, Nathan Ohlsen and Matt Scibberas up forward? NO.

PASCOE VALE DEF Moonee Valley by 90 points.

The Valley will be improved from last season, but won't get close to Pascoe Vale who boast a very good team and coach. Expect O'meara to kick a bag and head the goal kicking board for the year. Pacco to win comfortably.

GLENROY DEF Jacana by 120 points.

This will be a one sided match between these two neighbouring clubs. Glenroy will win by the length of the Flemington straight and coach Ash Manning will enjoy Saturday night knowing his team heads the ladder in B Grade. Johnny Kent to kick 13 first up.

TULLAMARINE DEF Roxburgh Park by 40 points.

The Tulla boys are just going along nice and quiet. A few injury concerns will test them early, but with Tom Robinson, Justin Marcy, Trent Aldous and Anthony Gentile will dominate the midfield and all around the ground they will be too good for Roxy Parrk.

EAST KEILOR DEF Sydneham Hillside by 18 points.

The two most improved teams in the E.D.F.L clash. Both sides have improved their list dramatically. In the end it will be the A Grade experience of Cameron Munro and Daniel Bonnici who will swing the honors the Cougars way. With Kyle Ewart and Nick Grigg provding quality fire power up forward the Cougars should win in a shoot out. Looking forward to a great contest from the Sharks who boast David Rogowski up forward and toughness with David Lambropolous and Paul D'Angelo.

Matty looks to be spot on. Even the Margins look good. Except for Marby. Their team "on paper" is streets ahead of Doutta's.

Avondale V WC will be a real toss of the coin. Interesting to see how the crazyburners go but Strathmore are a gun side and will still be too strong I reckon
