Sheppard was never going to go to Greenvale. Travis Kemp is his boss, and had a package deal worked out with Shane, job and playing at Moonee Valley.
Hey GVFottyfan,do you ever sleep?

Your infomation is good. Sheppard was going to Moonee Valley for those exact reasons. Moonee Valley were stiff to miss out on him, it seems a little unfair that a passionate Oak Park supporter was on the appeals board! It was the Peakes boys that were linked to Greenvale. But when Sheppards appeal was denied the Peakes withdrew their appeals to play with Greenvale.

Lee Woods has left Abers

Yes think he is going to Donvale, join his mate Casey. It seems that there are a few disruptions at clubs. A few more disgruntled players at Abers resulting from the way the coaching situation was handled. Oak Park have their problems also. In addition to the posts on some players leaving, Damien Caulfield, heading back to his roots, and at least one of the Pekes close to signing with a B grade club. And wait there is more, some long standing club official(s), gorn as well. The OP supporter, you mention, would'nt happen to have Scott as part of his name?

No Criagieburn bloke. The report says Marcus Pappa is returning from Eltham (possibly with Cam Eaton), Steve Collier is going there from Greenvale and Marcus Barclay and some other groover are going from Keilor Park.
No mention on Craigieburn fellas.

Is it possible that people are getting names confused? Jasin Pappin from Craigieburn won the comp B&F this year, he is not moving. Pappin, Pappa could sound alike to some.
Virtually no chance of Cam Eaton going back to APW. If he decides to play again, will be A grade, in the valley.

I umpire senior footy in the EDFL both A and B grade and I had 1 report all season. The most cases heard in a night at the tribunal this year was 6 and that includes A grade to Under 10 div 5.

As the WRFL beating EDFL saides, Hoppers played Keilor Park in a practice match and only beat them by 3 goals and KP finished 9th this year. I think Greenvale or Strathmore woud towel up most of the WRFL sides.

You might like to explain why the umpiring is so very bad. I have seen Guys get free kicks and fifty metres for tripping someone, in away that if Flecter did, would bring 10 years.

West Coburg would be a very good c grade team, for they are just too wasteful up forward. but when they turn up, they could do anything.

mentioning West Coburg, I played on him a couple of years a go. Apparently he was 16 or just turned 17. He was playing seniors when they were in A grade.

Does anyone know if he is still there ?

Have heard from a source that Corey McKernan taking Westmeadows for pre season training and has told club he will be playing games there next year. Houston to stay on as coach. Can anyone confirm this?

I wouldn't say the umpiring is terrible in the league, there is just a large gap between the good and bad umpires which leads to large inconsistencies from game to game.

The report count doesn't give a true indication of the roughness of the league and I think your stats are out a little anyway. I was there one Tuesday evening this year and there would have been at least 10 cases going on, the majority being juniors. That doesn't mean the juniors are overly rough, they are just getting pulled up for there discretions. In the seniors, I've seen people get away with some brutal and malicous acts because the umpire's don't want to have to give up their Tuesday evening to attend the tribunal.

In the end there are going to be idiots in any league, and those that aren't good enough to compete will have to to resort violent acts to make up for their lack of skill.

Near certanties for the drop if they play like they did last year.

If they play aswell as last year ill go he. They have lost everybody. Misiti most importantly, but also Smith, Brown, Barklay and Kempster aswell. Dont really know there club inside out but they are fu cked. If there was a book for wooden spoon betting they would be $1.01, and i would put everything i ever earn on it.

If the players you mentioned are leaving then I would say it will be B Grade for them 2007. Misti averaged about 30 touches a game I think, Chris Smith is regarded as one the best ruckmen in the league and Barclay and Kempster are part of there spine, unless they do some recruiting during the summer they won't have anyone to cover them.

There are cases where umpires don't want to go to the tribunal but it is also due to the tribunal being pretty soft. Cases where umpires being threatened and physically mahandled by players and the tribunal giving the players 2 weeks. In one case and umpire reported a player for striking and then when he went to inform the player, the player pushed the umpire. The tribunal suspended the player for 3 weeks for striking and 3 for pushing the umpire. The tribunal let the player serve them concurrently. Joke!

Didnt Scotty Kempster retire in 2004? unsure... if anyone can confirm. As you said, the loss of Misiti will be huge. Also, players such as Brown (class player in my opinion) and Barclay will be sorely missed. This club will really struggle to win a game next year i feel.....

IN relation to a few questions:
Kempster did play this year but is old and was only fooled out of retirement by the signing of Misiti. He hurt his knee, badly.

I dont think the money has run out at Greenvale cause they have signed Paxman again. You could basically build a side around him. Have only heard that Collier to APW but that guy is not even that good, he didnt play in the final. So im not sure who they have lost, does anyone know?

In relation to Chris Smith, i dont know who regards him as the best ruck man because he is clearly not. He is too small and slow. He doesnt even play in the ruck anymore, he is more a CHF.

And Brown is a great player. Just finds the footy.

Unfortunately there are very few quality ruckman in the EDFL. In fact, I don't think there's one.

Probably 4-5 years back there was Eaton from Airport West, Cuffy at Keilor and Winkel at Doutta Stars. These guys were Ruck Rovers rather than tap ruckman though.

The ruckmen in the edfl are not great atm. The best ruckline would be at greenvale with bloomfield, garbutt and kent. And as much crap a Moonee Valley get they have good rucks too in Kemp and Donny. Abers rucks are ok too with that tall kid, farrely and no 2 (cant think of his name atm, the one at full foward thats about 6'6''). But apart from those clubs its lean picking for the ruckmen.
