I didn't understand the 40 hearts gag. Maybe I'm a little slow.
I would love Paxman to coach, we need a high profile person to attract a few new players and he would be perfect but I doubt we'll get him.
Ex AFL or VFL player would be good to keep pace with the the others.

Everyone bags the KFC which is confusing? Why do you guys out there hate that Club Keilor so much?
I looked up some history and have been told and also read Keilor has been the most successfull club in the modern era of EDFL football.
The Majority of players who have played for this club have been local boys coming through the ranks. Apparently there previous Capitan Long was a junior? He also skippered 4 premierships? Can anyone confirm?
They have not gone out and spent big money for players to become successfull they have had these players come up through there junior ranks.
The EDFL should be singing the praises of the KFC as they have been the true measuring stick of the EDFL competition.
You can compare Keilor to the likes of Vermont, Port Colts, Northcote Park, Heidelberg, Sunbury.
You guys will continue to bag Keilor but the Fact of the matter is when ever you mention the EDFL to another person from another league there first response will be "Is that the League Keilor is in"
So the comments of "will the new coach bring 40 hearts to the Club?" I think that is a little harsh.
What reason do you guys have to bag that club?

Steve LOng Captained the club for 10 years - played in 5 premierships & a few other grand finals. A true leader that many would envy.
There would few in the EDFL that would bag this bloke given they knew anything about the game.
Even slamansammy would have to put his emotions on hold.

The Keilor FC have long been envied by opposition clubs for their sensational junior set up and plethora of players coming through the ranks. They are the model EDFL and indeed district football club when it comes to their set up i.e. producing home grown players who make their way through the ranks and play senior footy at their home club. If only other clubs could take this lead I think that district football could be a whole lot better. I know this is talked about all the time but the amount of money being spent on average footballers is a sad joke. Anyway, I'm sure people who hate Keilor have their reasons but they are an excellent model for the likes of Sydenham and Roxburgh Park establishing themselves in growth areas for sustained success for many years to come

l couldnt agree more. Their junior set up speaks for its self and l definetly try and use Keilors policies as much as l can at my club(Sydenham). The key to Keilor is that they have plenty of "football people" who remain at the club and become jnr coaches or officials. l have witnessed first hand a guy like Peter Latham ( premiership player and team of century player ) take on u10 as an ass. coach and the kids idolised him. The coach happened to be Jim Wilmott who is sensational in his own right. The u18 coach Panda is a 300 game player. People like these is why so many parents by pass Sydenham, Taylors Lakes and Keilor Park and drive the kids 30 minutes from home. l would imagine that probably 65% of kids from Keilor come from surrounding suburbs and thats simply because everyone wants to be involved with winners. Love em or hate em, they are a great club

interesting, what about the 16's coach, from all reports is a nut or as sam would put it a dead shit. isn't coaching juniors about teaching not berating players.
hard luck you lost the GF to a more skilled well drilled TEAM coached by a discipline coaching group.

Not sure about that but all im saying is Keilor junior structure is second to none, Doutta`s included.

I think the hearts came from an opposition club that had spanked Keilor in a grand final in the early 90's. They arrived at Keilors club rooms with the name of each player on them. They were let him because the bouncers hired to mind the door (who were hired to control the crowd when they won!) actually supported the team that had spanked them. A classic moment in KFC history

I hear Leigh Picioane was very upset with the fact he didn't finish in the top three in the Keilor Best and Fairest and is seriously considering heading back to Boort and taking a couple with him. Lance is also having the year off next year..... has anybody heard ?

Lee was very good in the games I saw.... Who finished ahead of him in teh B & F ??? Rick Marcy / Matt Towner / Mikka James spring to mind....
From all reports Lee enjoyed the year so I doubt he would be too upset...

Lee Fraser won his 6th B and F for the club while Marcy came second once again. Funny too see Frase did not make the EDFL team of the year though!!. As for Lee Picione I spoke to him recently and would be very surprised to see him going anywhere but the KFC , he has a young family and is very happy not to be travelling 3 hours to play footy, Boort apparently have been in contact with him but i would suggest he will be at Keilor.
