LOL. You've narrowed down the criteria a few notches since we all last discussed this issue on here. 🤦‍♂️

Metro footy ... hmmmmm. Nothing unique about your effort. Here's two for you.

Let's go with North Beach in the WA amateurs - 7 straight A grade flags between 2004 to 2010 (add in 2001 and 2002 for 9 out of 10).

Another metro team is East Sydney, who won 7 consecutive NSWAFL flags between 1953 and 1959.

That makes you the nuffy, champ.

Deer Park hold the record for the most (metropolitan) senior premierships in a row .... Nuffies on here can't name any other club that's done that !!!!

Seeyas next year peeps
#bigcricketseason!!
Premierships won in a minnow comp are worth about 14% of the value of premierships achieved in genuinely strong metro comps, such as EFL, NFL and EDFL. On that basis Deer Park have done squat. Akin to a carp in a goldfish tank when they were in the WRFL.

If its happening in local footy you will here it here on Big Footy first. On that basis I offer the following. 7 Straight wrfl premiership winning juggernaught Deer Park are primed for a huuuuuge 2026. Watch this space.... Cruelled by injury in 2025 , 2026 is going to a good year.
How did the Strathmore captain take being left out of the Grand Final team? Was he dropped or had he missed a number of weeks in the lead in to the GF?.
Missed plenty of games, didn't play after round 15 or any finals but was available grand final day but not selected. Believe he took it reasonably well

St George in the old NSWRL won 11 in a row through the 50s I was to young to remember then but a hell of an effort in any code

And if the white knight Glen Alison didn’t come along you would have won none

The same Deer Park that unless playing with a stacked deck, preferred to remain in div 2?
Great club.
Does anyone know why GA left Marby and chose to go to Deer Park instead?
As an outsider at the time, did it have to do with clubs like Greenvale, Aberfeldie, Strathmore and Keilor being able to generate the same funds and not being as easy to dominate, where as Deer Park could run rings around the WRFL?

Hey BJ, this thread has been taken over with some sh&& on Deer Park but what I will say is I found them to be a very professionally run club with a lot of supporters in team colours each and every week. Even good numbers of senior people supporting the juniors. Probably more loyal than some of the bigger clubs. Hence we read about the resentment of these supporters but they are loyal and stick together as one group unlike some other supporter groups.

From my understanding GA took on challenges of getting clubs up from the bottom. He tried Broadford after Deer Park.

Tbh, it's the lack of humility that seems to draw the response rather than jealousy. That aside, they're one of a few taking the piss.
As for the rest, there's plenty of reason why they're involved with juniors and it isn't purely for the love of the club.
The players that end up there are bought & paid for, if loyalty were their priority, they would be at their junior clubs.
Let's be real, it's easy to like a club when they're lining your bank account. How many would have ever ended up there if it weren't for GA etc?
At a guess, very few.

Matt Horne left and encouraged Ash to take the job. Now comes back to take the job back after a flag and Ash single handedly built the list again with some quality players with very little help from the club.

Horne coached 19, 20, 21, 22… yep, got a flag in that fourth season.

Ash coached 24 and 25, begged by players to do the job, flag second season. Strathmore was tipped by many this season to finish lower and some claimed they’d miss the finals.

Say what you want about Horne, but it’s hard to claim he’s a better coach given their records. Ash coached Rupertswood also who hadn’t won a senior flag and took them to a premiership 12 goal win in his second season too. Many of those players still been chasing Ash to come and coach them again.
What year did Ash coach Rupo to a flag and what league was it in ?

Hearing there’s going to be a lot more to play out with the Strathmore coaching gig.. VERY divided camp on who the hierarchy want Vs who the players want as coach next season!

Iirc he was at Greenvale and wanted to be appointed coach when they got into A grade, when he didn’t get the job his response was to buy a struggling club and come back and kick Greenvales arse which he did with Marby. Iirc he did coach Marby when he first went there. Not sure why he took all his players with him to Dp.
