Interesting choice of ground. Very underused for one of the best grounds in the league. I actually think this should be an EDFL ground controlled by them not Abbers. The EDFL could triple the size of the change rooms (4 to 6 change rooms) and have a huge function room as well.

Agree, a little investment and this could be a great football venue. Only issue is parking but wouldnt be the only ground with that problem.

Car park has been extended and still has room for further extension. Could even put some cars behind the current club rooms.

Dempsey confirmed for Greenvale! Good get considering the there're they have lost. Have Abers Abers picked up any to replace the players they lost?

Good "name" recruit to create some excitement at GV. It will be interesting to see how he preforms at local level. Don't think GV can afford to have the 2 big name recruits playing below par as they both really need to be leaders. Where will Dempsey play you reckon? Surely he play on ball. Anyway GV still have some class players..

I'd say Chappy comes with a few question marks due to advancing age not being overly kind on hammys, Dempsey however should be pretty damaging.

Chappy is a doubtful proposition. Pretty much refused to play in a weaker comp last year. Body was cooked. Has anyone seen the NT comp on Foxtel? Dempsey has blown out big time.

You say weaker comp like it's a proven fact .
Anyone who follows local footy knows Edfl premier is a long way ahead of Wrfl.FACT.Yes Deer Park would be very competitive in its current (not sure for how much longer)form but the remaining Wrfl clubs would NOT make Edfl top 5.FACT

Hey Bully I have to agree with Barfly on this one however it's not offical I guess.

I don't think WRFL runners up Hoppers Crossing would beat any of the top 8 Premier sides. I give them a good chance against West Coburg and they would definitely beat Airport West of 2016.
"Just my opinion"

I heard this regarding Northern league not so long ago.

How can something that cannot be proven be a fact ? On the surface it may appear that way but correct me if I'm wrong but you probably say similar about the Northern League and we know what happened there 21 months ago .

Having an opinion is what it's all about Turbo . No problem at all with informed opinions .

Don't know if this is a current thread or not, but here goes.

Lavington Panthers FC are looking for some practice matches to complete preparations for the 2017 Ovens & Murray season. Dates we are looking for are March 11 and 18. Would prefer to have the 18th at Lavington Oval. Any clubs interested please contact James on 0439 713 737

The rep game doesn't prove one league is stronger than the other it only proves their best 22 is better than the other on the day! WRFLs best 22 would have a very good chance of beating EDFL rep team but the overall standard of the 2 leagues is not even close imo, if any of the top 6-8 teams from EDFL went across they would be top 2 and massive chance for a flag in that league, where as deer park would the only team with a hope of winning a flag in EDFL the others wouldn't even play finals

I stated previously that you and others are more than likely right but when it comes across as FACT and not someone's opinion is out of line IMO . The EDFL have in recent years built their reputation on recruiting many former AFL players to their competition.I say too many of these players are only playing for the coin and as a result don't perform to anywhere near the standard expected. However these guys continue to carry their reputations around with them .Personally I only see the odd EDFL game live and whilst the standard is good i think the way it's spoken about is way over the top. I've seen way more EFL games in recent years and while there's not a lot of difference I'd say the EFL's top sides are stronger but the EDFL's mid to lower sides would beat EFL's 6th to 12th teams . The WRFL is on the improve from 5 or 6 years ago when the standard seemed to drop . Again only just my observations.

Watched the last rep game. EDFL looked home comfortably before just winning.
That normally wouldn't happen to any team coached by Mick.
My point: Throw as much quality together as you like, if they aren't all on the same page in terms of game plan they are not nessesarily going to be a good team.
They train together for a limited time and most would be more concerned about performing for their club.
I'd go as far as saying the premiers in our comp who have trained/played together for 9 months would beat the combined side.
Also as has been said before the best players don't always play.
I'd prefer to see the premiers from each comp have a crack at each other. Only problem is when would you play. After blokes have been on the piss for a week wouldn't be keen having a game in early October you wouldn't think.

Turbo, My guess, He would be playing on ball and rotate half back. wouldn't be cheap and expectations will be high.

If he hasn't been cooked playing in a lower Division. He will certainly get cooked playing against ABERS, KEILOR, STRATHMORE, DOUTTA'S x 2 and coach! etc

Why not do what the NRL do in their world club challenge between the Australian and English premiers. Only difference is that is a one off game. You would need to do a mini comp to determine the champion of champions. Not sure clubs or players would be too keen on that at the start of the next season, plus you would have players moving on so it may not be the same team that won the flag.
