Interesting article in today's leader about Craigieburn having less than 30 contracted senior players for this season so far! “Some blokes don’t want to play Premier Division, or even twos in Premier Division,” Eagles coach Peter Bugden said.
“We are in need of any local people to come down and play football, no matter what your capabilities and age are,”
Pretty sad to see but guess it serves as an example to other clubs the dangers of buying flags in lower grades
After all the flack the last president got for his hard work, achieving what he did, and change over this is where they're at? Is just about a jump in division or back to where it has always been before Brian.Reckon it probably says more about the type of people associated with Craigieburn.. Most dont want to put in the hard work that it takes to be competitive at premier league level. Most would rather train once a week, turn up on Saturday and get drunk with there mates every weekend.. nothing wrong with that if your happy to be a B grade club.. but have to feel sorry for the president and committee who have spent heaps of money and no doubt time investing in the club to get it back to A Grade and then to have players leave because they cant be bothered training etc is poor.
Is quite sad really, Craigieburn used to be a strong and proud club.. I remember fondly back in the RDFL when blokes like Paul Albon & Kenny Ingram would have bled for the brown and white.

So here come all the hero's to kick them when there down. Yes it is going to be a long year for CB. Struggling badly for numbers in the reserves and 19's and will field a significantly weaker side in the seniors as opposed to last year. Unfortunately many of the departures across the seniors and even 2's have given the reason they dont wish to play premier division. Not sure what the point is in getting there. It's a real shame and cant see anything other than relegation for them.KARMA!!!!!
Anyone else having issues logging onto the EDFL website?

How's it karma? There main issue is they just haven't recruited players this year, all clubs loose about 10 players per year all you have to do is look at the clearance page to back that up, they just haven't replaced those 10 players as other clubs do. Only lost 8 players from the gf side, two retired and one to play at Calder more than likely, that leaves 5 that are playing elsewhere think that a normal turnover and for there own reasons I'm sure 3 of those over 30, still have some quality players on the list so a bit early to write them offKARMA!!!!!
The trouble was the mess at the end of the season Peter Bugden was gone as coach because of politics so players made commitments elsewhere then a few weeks after the season ends we know the story there, he is reappointed but blokes had made commitments elsewhere or were very open about retiring.Careful What You Wish For!

Is this a common occurence itsallaboutme? In recent years has the club promoted from B grade always been flogged when they move up to Premier.
I am simply an interested observer of your comp and forum. It was APW last year wasn't it?

Hearing rumours Jack McNamara also on the way out. Wants to head back to St Bernards. Owed plenty from Abers and pushing for a transfer.
Unless Abers are replacing the disgruntled players who are on way out then it could be a decent slide this year.
Quite a few U18's and fringe players on the move also.
If true that would make the count 6 from Abers GF side that wont front up in 2017. Add to that Langwell, who played the majority of the year in the ones and it's a fair chunk of your squad!
It seems Luke Blackwell must be fairly happy with the place though as his brother Dean is joining him from Perth
They should also regain the services of Luke Davis, which will be a massive boost for them as well as Josh Pound coming back and Caleb Hislop from Willy
Whist it certainly looks like they will not be as dominant as previous seasons, i'd say they still have enough talent on the park to be finals contenders. Not sure how many 19's/fringe are leaving but that would be a concern as that has been one of Abers strengths over the previous seasons
That has to be a first for GV. Can clubs survive without under 19's? Tulla has proven they can but in Premier Div? I think not clubs need to have a very good recruiting plan in placeGreenvale have no 19's this year either

If true that GV won't have a 19's cause the 18's last year finished last....there will be a lot of pressure on the cheque book to keep players and recruit players in 2017 & 2018

The reason GV don't have 18's is because of the EDFL changing all the age groups to odd numbers. This will affect a lot more clubs then u think. Because clubs will loose all there 18 yr olds that played last year and won't have any 16's coming up. That's because they all get another season due to it being under 17's.
Not all stay because it was under 18.5. So that means anyone who turned 19 after July 1st was able to play 18's. So if you had say 8-10 players in that bracket then there is 8-10 players that go up to seniors and no 17's to replace. So a squad of say 24-25 last year now becomes 14-15 unless you recruit playersSo if all the 16s don't come up because they go to 17s wouldn't all the 18s stay as its now 19s ?
Or maybe it's a changing of the guard, Westmeadows will field 2 x under 19s
