Did everyone hear about the incident in the Sunshine vs Deer Park game in where a Sunshine player was king hit and taken to hospital and the game abandon. They say the offending player ran off and to be taken away.
The offending player was an ex Keilor player who wore long sleeves and kicked left foot.. I know opposition clubs didn't seem to like him, but didn't think he was this type of player.

I have now watched 3 games of premier this year (incl good Friday) and have to say the umpiring has been very good. Yes a few questionable decision's but overall it's been pretty good as they seem to have control, letting the play move and interacting with players.
From the game Sat (Pacco v Strathmore) they had control and paid free kick quickly for a couple of late contests and controlled the situation during a small melee. On the late hits (1 from each side) it was great to see both players get straight back up and get on with it.
Or am I seeing better umpiring as Pacco are winning. What did you think Stax as your usually a pretty good judge mate..

Hears a funny story - On Saturday I was watching from the Pacco side of the ground (near the EDFL van) by myself (no alcohol) and amongst all us was an elderly Strathmore couple who watched from near there car. Looked like they loved there footy and pretty passionate. Good on them!! But then he said something about Pacco's player expenses so I couldn't help myself but put him straight on some comparisons about what his club pays. He wasnt impressed with my numbers. Anyway Im not raising this topic, just thought it was quite funny as he was starting to get agitated about the result but I didn't go any further. You really have to give credit to this supporters who really love there local club/footy.."but they did leave early though" Lol

There hasn't been one of these convo's on here before.
Each of Abers, Greenvale, Pascoe Vale, Keilor and Strathmore are dishing out some very decent coin, while i know the figures trotted out are often exaggerated or downplayed (depending on who you speak to) I'm just not sure what there is to be gained by doing so.

Some club people deserve success and the right recruits bring people into the ground and your club. As long as they are prepared to stay for a few years and put something back into the club, I see it's a good thing.
Strathmore have kept Arrowsmith & Icobouchi (spelling incorrect) for a number of years and they have been good for them..

Need to include Avondale Heights in the high paying clubs which makes 6 clubs paying good money. Marby are not that far behind these clubs and even Airport West spend some good dollars. Probably only Northern and West Coburg working to approx 35-50% of what the others are paying.
In the end most players demand money but you need to get in good people..

Anyway I wanted to discuss the umpiring standard and players playing good footy as with budgets it's all a bit of guess work..

Reading the offences I'd say they got off lightly

the offending Deer Park player got 10 weeks suspension last night by the WRFL tribunal

I think priorities are a little off if abusing umpires garners a longer suspension than striking someone..

Set a zero tolerance for abuse at the top level then it will filter down to the juniors.

I've no idea how bad it was but tribunals don't hand out 20 week suspensions on a whim.

Like I've said before they're a club up against it but they do have some some of the more hospitable people doing the hard yards for the club.

Must be very hard struggling on field and then with limited resources off it - wish them all the best and hope they can move forward..

Over 16 weeks suspension during playing career means you are then deregistered and can't play again, so 1 guy is finished and the other got 12 weeks so depending on his history if he will play again.
It's not a good thing for footy in general but it's been dealt with fairly I guess but I wasn't there to comment on the incident.
