Hard to gauge the very top end with the victorians not able to show much more but I would say it’s looking like the deepest draft in a long time and the first round would look to rival 2016 and 2018 for sure. Unless your getting a bonafide superstar i wouldn’t dare trade out of it.Rough estimate ... how strong is 2021 expected to be? Will we see a reticence for clubs to trade out of it?

Unless a team is desperate for a certain player this year I highly doubt it hahaInteresting ..i thought Geelong might have been able to move one of our R1's into next year .. maybe not then.

GC don’t need need points, they get their academy players for free.Well geeloing trade a P20 something with GC for a future R1 ... some clubs needing points etc. but it changes it a bit if its a really good draft
If Gold Coast don’t get their future 2021 PP taken off them, a team might consider trading a mid first round pick this year for Gold Coast’s second round pick and their 2021 PP.Well geeloing trade a P20 something with GC for a future R1 ... some clubs needing points etc. but it changes it a bit if its a really good draft

Especially a team that might lose their first pick to a NGA or father son bid.
Yep GC did that trade because they rated Sharp as a first round prospect, so they saw it as fair value. Plus they knew they were getting Davies and Jeffery this year who are highly rated. I don’t think many will want to trade out of next years first round, unless it’s for the strategy of loading up on first round picks this year. That was trade last year ... not for points but for a player GC liked .. my point was a pick in the 20's traded for a pick that was in theory p11..
this year plenty of clubs have NGA and FSons etc
a lot of things a possible ... especially when the talent assessment this year means a lot of clubs will see player they rate move and slide...
as shown last year clubs are gradually becoming more comfortable with in draft trades. 2 later picks for 1 R1...? possible I guess..agains depending on list management and draft rating
If there aren’t changes to the NGA’s and bidding process at end of the year, there’s potentially a couple of clubs that might want to move future first or second round picks next year, if they have highly rated kids in next years draft.I wouldn’t expect a lot of future picks to move this year
it wouldn’t surprise me if gcs move their 2021 pp just to make sure it isn’t taken off them lol. But can’t see a team targeting that pick easily, it would be a case of right time right place that gets that offer like geelong last year.
Think those concessions may change given the improved form of the suns this year, seems unfair they get get pre selection on potentially 4 players in a very modified draftYep GC did that trade because they rated Sharp as a first round prospect, so they saw it as fair value. Yes, their concessions should be transferred from the Suns to Us.Think those concessions may change given the improved form of the suns this year, seems unfair they get get pre selection on potentially 4 players in a very modified draft

I doubt they take them away. What’s the point of introducing them, then taking then away a year later. The AFL knew they would win games this year and it’s not like they’ve set the comp on fire. They’d have to make finals this year to roll back the concessions.Think those concessions may change given the improved form of the suns this year, seems unfair they get get pre selection on potentially 4 players in a very modified draft
I can see the Suns being told, that after this year the draft academy concessions will be removed, but they keep Darwin as part of their academy zone.I doubt they take them away. For all the draft watchers out there how would Thilthorpe compare to someone like Peter Wright. Obviously Wright hasn't come on but what traits would separate the two that would make Thilthorpe worth pick one?
Top 10eDPS.... where would you have someone like Sam Flanders in this draft... ?
Ye of little faith!!So last year wasn't as prominent as the year before that, but he has been around. In 2018 when people were discussing what might happen in 2019 and when people suggested using Freo's first pick on Jeremy Sharp I said that I'd rather trade away the pick to get Logan McDonald the next year, to indicate how impressive I thought his 2018 was. But I admit I did jump off the bandwagon at the end of last year simply because last year wasn't sustaining the 2018 form. I guess what could have maybe played a role was the fact he was finishing high school last year, whereas this year he is at University.
- Played Colts last year (2019) and the year before (2018) - year before was a lot more impressive where he put up some huge bags of goals (like 9 goals in a game) as a 16 year old, whereas 2019 he kicked goals in most games but it was sort of only in the 1-3 range per game.
- Was part of the Academy last year
- Played in U18 championships last year for all bar I think one game; his first game was impressive but he got the wobbles in front of goal and ended up with only 1 goal and three behinds (and maybe an out of bounds as well) - his kicking technique is pretty good so was probably just nerves - he has a reputation for being very accurate;
- Played in the NAB showcase game where I think he may have kicked a goal from memory but was otherwise not prominent.
This year he has been impressive again - the reality is that he played four games in a row, two before the main season proper at a senior level and kicked 3 or more goals in all of them against grown men. I haven't seen anything like that really since Scott Gumbleton or maybe Jack Darling, and back in the days it was easier for Gumbleton to break into the Peel seniors because of a lack of tall timber. Scott was reasonably prominent and regularly got the top backman; I think we do need to temper it a bit with Logan because he isn't always getting the best backman yet, but even so.
I’ve only seen a little bit of him, bit of a utility who moves well with good skills. He is an academy hub member so is already touted pretty highly.Hey eDPS, we are trying to get Richard Bartlett into our NGA for next years draft, got any info on him?
