KM has already updated again, now has us taking Weller and Blakely (and passing on Duggan and Garlett at 20).

Blakely looks a 200 gamer, he may not be the sexy pick if we've got a choice of flashier types like Garlett, Cockatoo, Langford or Lamb, but he'll be a very good player for whoever picks him up, we could do a lot worse.

Songs will be sung if Weller gets through to us, would be another Merrett moment

Not entirely true. I said if they didn't get Lever because Melbourne selected him at 3, they'd get McDonald at 23/24.
Which means you think that St. Kilda will pass on McDonald (which solves a clear need) at 21 and 22. It amounts to the same thing, St. Kilda and GWS both do stupid drafts.

I'm quietly hoping Richmond and North go tall or something with their picks and then look to see De Goey and Cockatoo slide to us (probably won't happen but I'd be ecstatic if it did).

If we get Duggan then surely it's a formality that we refer to him only as "Hacksaw"

Anyone like small mid sized forward in Toby McLean from Oakleigh?? Looks like a good one.

Will go somewhere between pick 20 and our pick 13 in the rookie draft. Would be very worth a pick in the 30s or 40s for a side that has one.

clearly hes guessing, as all the bf phantoms drafters are.. but thats not the point. Its a bit of fun to try identify clubs needs and fit a player to them, as well as listen to rumour and papertalk. Quite often they end up close.

He puts alot of work into his bios and is a good read, makes draft time more fun knowing a bit more about who is who , not just a kids name.

I didn't say the bios weren't a good read. I was commenting on your statement that implied his mock may be relevant to who we actually pick.

Pick 17:

TOM LAMB (3rd forward - our list need)
Tall forward/midfielder with elite endurance, excellent goal sense, footy nous and strong hands overhead. Showcased running power at the NAB AFL Draft Combine, finishing second in the 3km time trial with a time of 9:45 and third in the beep test with 15.5. Averaged 14.8 disposals with 50 per cent contested in five matches in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. Member of NAB AFL Academy Level 2 squad. Father Wayne played with Melbourne and Fitzroy.

or

REECE MCKENZIE (Ruck/Forward - our list need (after Ryder exit))
Tall forward who can pinch-hit in the ruck. Extremely strong overhead mark and accurate kick for goal. Kicked 35 goals in 10 matches for the Northern Knights this year. Finished equal-first in the clean hands test (26/30), equal-second in the 20m sprint (2.87 sec) and equal-fifth in the standing vertical jump (72cm) at the NAB AFL Draft Combine. Father Warren was a premiership player for Carlton.

Pick 20:

JACK LONIE (goal kicking small forward - our list need)
Busy small forward who reads the ball exceptionally well off hands, has penetrating left-foot kick and is smart around goal. Averaged 18 touches in 15 matches playing for TAC Cup club Dandenong Stingrays. Excellent for Vic Country in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, winning the MVP award and averaging 14 disposals, two marks and two goals. Recorded 8.37 sec in the agility run at the NAB AFL Draft Combine. Cousin of former AFL players Nathan (Hawthorn and (Port Adelaide) and Ryan (Collingwood).

or

CALEB DANIEL (small forward - our list need)
Small forward who is a prolific ball-winner, makes great decisions and executes well by hand or foot. Had outstanding last three games of the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, winning All Australian honours. Averaged 20 disposals at 92 per cent efficiency in three appearances during the championships, including a best-afield display against Vic Country with 27 touches, eight tackles and three goals. Also impressed in 11 SANFL games for South Adelaide. Shared top honours in the beep test with a level 16.1 and scored 25/30 in the clean hands test at the NAB AFL Draft Combine.

Wish we had another pick around this 20 mark.

Tom Lamb - Bad attitude, apparently has a poor work ethic (shades of Jarred Brennan...i.e. no denying the talent but I don't want us wasting our first pick on a player that may get the boot after a few years because he's not prepared to work hard).

Reece McKenzie - If we choose to get him it won't be at #17, it'll be at #20 (provided the Blues don't wake up and see the glaring need for a KPF).

Jack Lonie - Could be a very good pick-up but, late in the draft (maybe even the rookie draft). #20 is much too high for him, especially when you consider the large number of smalls we already have on our list.

Caleb Daniel - As per Lonie #20 is too high for him. Again could be a good pick-up for a team later on but given our current smalls, we don't need anymore.

Our needs (in order) are: Tallish (186+cm), pacey inside/outside mid(s) who kick goals and have x-factor (De Goey, Cockatoo, Menadue), 3rd tall defender assuming Carlisle remains a forward and we delist Pears and Steinberg (Marchbank, Langford, Goddard(?)), KPF/Ruck (McKenzie, Wright (if he does slide and is available he's a must)). After that it's utilities (Vickers-Willis, etc.), hard nut inside mids, flankers and then smalls.

No it isn't. Our list needs are:

1. KPF's
2. Ruckmen
3. KPF's
4. Ruckmen

Ahhh in that case our two picks should be McCartin and Wright, shouldn't be any trouble persuading other clubs that neither are that good should it? :p
