The game can be the easiest in the series depending on how you want to play. It heavily rewards exploration - I felt the game opened up more and I understood it better by the time I killed the second main boss. Also in this game you can find equipment, weapon skills and summons that can make pretty much any play-style you want to play viable - which is another reason why I think it's the most accessible FromSoft game to date. I've seen people shred bosses with just bows at a range, or using double shields for example - so if you don't like relying on dodging and learning enemy patterns, or want to be defensive and safe then it all works. Random enemies in the open world and in dungeons aren't that troublesome. This game has a lot of repeat mobs and bosses so you can get used to them a lot quicker too.
I have my longbow at +15 and I have talismans that increase bow damage, range, and damage from horseback. It's pretty damn viable, honestly. It's never the main method of attack, but it's great to start a fight or take down smaller hands and bats and shit that are waiting above to ambush. Also did wonders on Radahn, not gonna lie

what's your build?

Me, I got stuck on Godfrey. Took me like 3 ******* nights. Beat him last night. Fist pumped a hole through reality itself

Using the bloodfang blade I think it's called... I usually put a good amount into both strength and dex then hammer endurance, very little vigor since I don't think it matters that much in these days.

agree, get enough endurance to wear sick-ass armour rather than have heaps of Vigour. Helps your poise, too

Things are slowly making more sense (well not really, I'm just figuring out where smaller bosses are)

Took out the Endtree Burial Watchdog

and another "boss" that was pink/purple in colour and using a boat. Getting to the Watchdog was hard, the actual boss fight was very easy (guess it pays to be level 36!).

Got the mimic ashes... Might save them if I really struggle on a boss, so OP!

I haven't done any farming but I feel if you do too many mini dungeons the game becomes too easy... Though probably more the fact sorcery is OP in PVE as usual. Radahn got me a couple times through one shots but then I just stacked on the heaviest armour and beat him rather easily.

I have got my Mimic Tear up to +8. It's a beast. I smoked Morgott on my second go (after getting my campaigner kicked in for about 4 days with bloody Godfrey!!)

Having a blast. Rocking my magic build, been invaded a few times and it's surprisingly easy to hit with some spells where in DS3 you'd have people just roll through them.

I didn't think I'd enjoy it this much. I've barely made any progress in the story, just ****ing around and exploring. Beat Godrick the first time I tried due to NPC summons, the jellyfish summon, and smashing him with magic at range (which is genuinely the cheeziest thing I think I've ever done).

I really, really like the portals scattered throughout the world. Pick me up and put me somewhere I've never been that looks ****ing terrifying and there's giants and dragons and a castle with avelyn ballistae and you've got a bridge to either run past or run away. I've died a lot, and I still have no idea what's going on, and I genuinely don't care. Fighting a dragon on horseback amidst the ruins on the lake is the best thing in the world, makes me wish I could have done it against Kalameet. Felt like ****ing Gandalf.

Only thing I will say is, the boss that's behind the goblin key fog wall in the initial dungeon can suck a fat one. How the **** are you supposed to fight something that big and fast in a room that small?

Godfrey was harder than Morgott for me, I got Morgott first go. Though I didn't even have the Mimic tear.

My Mimic tear is only +4 but is just shredding everything lol, I might stop leveling.

Does anyone know what the end game level target should be? Im around level 80 and unsure if I should stop (though previous Souls games were closer to 100-120)

Have you even beaten a mainline boss yet? You're going to be severely overpowered by the time you start taking them on haha

You'd be surprised, barely Level 40 yet and it feels like I am UNDER POWERED in the early areas.

Level 39
Vigor 22
Mind 18
Endurance 11
Strength 20
Dex 20
INT 10
Faith 8
Arcane 9

Using the Lordsworn's Greatsword (it's only a +3, can't upgrade it further as I don't have access to the better materials yet), I can backstab most weaker enemies and thus kill them in 1 hit. The Blood Slash works wonders and gives better damage, granted it mucks up my reliance with shields and defence in general. But yes I do currently feel like a god going through the mini dungeons and clearing them out without too much worry :p.

Mind you I did beat the Tree Sentinel without much trouble, my main issue is patience - need to just wait out the attack patterns of the bosses and then move in when they leave an opening. I've gotten close to downing Margit but can't quite get the job done. A solution would be to upgrade the spirit summons - but to do that I've got to get to a higher area (pretty much beat Margit/Godrick to do so. I don't see any other path forward).

I've enjoyed learning things like how some enemies are more vulnerable to hack/slash weapons, while others are weaker to impact weapons (hammers etc).

I've trawled some Elder Ring forum posts and some have said they're at 150+ and still haven't beaten the end game bosses. So this is going to be a toughhhhhhhh slog for me a Dark Souls-pert :p

Self-proclaimed 😅

I beat Margit at 22 for reference. Pretty sure I beat the 2nd elden lord before 35 also 😛
I highly doubt I'll be anywhere near 150 by the time I wrap up.

Well I've made it to Anor Londo without dying and have clocked the original Dark Souls without going higher than Level 15 :P
As I've posted on here, Margits first phase is easy. I can survive that without getting hit, it's the second phase where it goes downhill rapidly!

Mate I got no idea how you can do a SL15 run and not beat Margit 2nd try haha. I don't want to think about Manus/Artorias/Kalameet at that level!

Clearly down to method I guess, like when doing the Ornstein & Smough battle in DS1, I didn't use the pillars to block Smough's path which made battling both a lot harder and basically impossible. Then once I incorporated that method with my other steps, they were easier to defeat.

O+S are fine, the bosses I mentioned are the ones I would fear

Are you using Ashes or NPC summons at all? I think they have designed the boss levels with these things in mind so without, level requirements will drastically change.

Ashes yes I've unlocked a few but the Mushroom and Wolves have been my most used. NPC's I have not, I got invaded by a cpu NPC (which I assume is the intro to them in the game) when I was lurking around outside one of the caves. I'm yet to summon a character to help in a boss fight (as far as I'm aware I haven't unlocked the ability to do so yet ? - no summon signs on the ground at least).

Again as a Souls expert you should know this, but the finger remedy whatevers are the equivalent of humanities :p
