I’m 40 hours in, level 65 and still finding it difficult to get enough runes to level up.Level 106, dropped 30k runes and rode off the other way.

Funny how 5k runes are flush in the first 20 hours and so hard to come by, then you ride back past those early stages and drop enemies that smashed you with one hits. Love that about From games.
Summons make it easier but I think the bosses are tuned for this. As melee, you still have to get within wipe range to hit them. Magic with summons is the op easy mode.True on the Ashes of War, but I dont mean the absurdity that was pre nerf mimic tear. Even current mimic tear is absurd. Just having something to take aggro is a big deal compared to prior games.
There were OP spells and incantations in the other games which I can liken to the Ashes of War. The spirit ashes are an entirely new, game changing element.
Not that any of this is bad, it's good to have options to make things easier for those who want it. I'm just saying for Souls veterans who are finding it too easy, a good start is to stop using the summons.
I agree, Margit and Godrick I've just spammed Rock Sling while my wolves took their attention.Summons make it easier but I think the bosses are tuned for this. As melee, you still have to get within wipe range to hit them. Magic with summons is the op easy mode.

Very similar to me. I got decently into the original dark souls then played DS3 a little bit. Played nioh got hard stuck at the 2nd boss with a rage inducing controller throwing uninstall at the end. It's an odd argument. Like, you don't have to use AoW or Spirit Summons. So diehard Soulsbourne can still get that brutal experience. Where as for me, I've tried DS1 and 3, Bloodbourne and Nioh, and I last around an hour or so, or the first boss and give up. I want to enjoy them, I love RPG's, but it's too frustrating.
This game though, i'm 20 hours in and always thinking about it and wanting to dive back in.
Catering to all audiences isn't a bad thing, especially when your not necessarily robbing Peter to pay Paul.
bought it the other day and about 5 hours in. this game is ******* hard.
Idk where to go and end up trying to beat multiple bosses or side dudes at the same time.
Also, i massively regret my Hero strength based build. so ******* clunky and the damage is nothing special. gonna have to change it up and move towards intelligence and arcane maybe as i progress
I went in fully blind and I'm super aggressive in any game I play so it made sense for me. Only level 18/19 but already finding that I need to be overleveled to beat certain bosses that I've seen people beat with relative ease.Tbh I have no idea how people are playing strength builds. Your armour is like paper and getting close to a lot of the bosses is asking for death.

I was over 40 when I beat margit. I have just finished rahahn and I’m level 78. Overleveling keeps it from being frustrating. It’s like either grind for an hour or two in one of the rune farming spots or beat your head against a wall against a boss who can one shot you. I know what I chose. No regrets! At level 18 the only boss you should really be fighting is Margit, and even then you're fighting at a fairly low level for a new player.
Once you get to a point though... I wear the heaviest Armour in the game (Lionels) with the stone shield and I'm a ****ing tank. Poise off the charts. Can parry most attacks easily. Feels so good. I am destroying bosses in NG+Tbh I have no idea how people are playing strength builds. Your armour is like paper and getting close to a lot of the bosses is asking for death.
They appear at a second location for the a second and final fight. Can someone please explain to me what the deal with the dragons and them ******* off is?
