Spurs have been on the end of two ridiculous ones in successive weeks actually. The one against Southampton where it ricocheted off one Spurs defender onto another (ball heading out) was equally ridiculous.
Make it 3. This is the worst of them
Poor Doherty has given away two BS pens now.

Rulemakers making a fair go of ruining the game this past few years. Handball, VAR, offside all cluster****s.

Jesus how were either of those handball. That's absolute garbage. Doherty can't remove his arm from his body. It's pinned down the side of his body. Disgrace.

Then the second his arm is tucked in in front of his stomach to protect himself. If his arm isn't there it just hits his body. Just crazy...

Problem solved.

I reckon the changes have mostly improved the decision making.
  • Goal line technology. No guessing any more whether the ball went over the line.
  • Offside. It's not a good look when they have to start drawing the lines but they don't miss the big errors any more. The recent change so that the assistant doesn't put up the flag until the play is resolved is a good move.
  • Serious foul play. Red cards have been awarded and also rescinded contrary to the initial decision of the ref, whereas previously any remedial action would only take place after the game. It's been a good move to encourage the refs to have a look at the replay on the monitor.
  • Awarding penalties. They have got the VAR reviews of trips and pushes in the area about right. Again it's been good when the on field ref has another look. The handballs have been a mess this season. Hopefully they can fix that soon.
  • Penalty kicks. Encroachment by both defenders and forwards can be reviewed by VAR. It's a bit rough on goalies that they have to have one foot on the line, but it's something they can train for.
  • Use of spray by the ref has got rid of all the encroachment issues at free kicks.
  • Not allowing opposition players into the wall has got rid of the pushing and pulling nonsense at free kicks.
