I can't wait, because I think we are going to do it !!
We are the only current team to have won premierships in THREE centurys (1800's, 1900's, 2000's)
Every other club has only won premierships in one century. And we have won them in THREE !!!!! The now extinct Fitroy, won the 1898-99 flags, meaning they won premierships in two centurys.
It's about time we took our rightful position at the head of the premiership tally !!

Don't count your flags until their fluttering in the breeze. Injuries to key players, drop in form, player discontent, complacency, premiership hangover, lack of hunger. The bombers may face all these problems next year and maybe more.
If the players show the same arrogance and lack of respect for other teams that the supports display, then they might come undone.

I make no apologies fr being arrogant. We just won 24 out of 25 so I will be as arrogant as I wish. I can afford to be.

Actually, I heard Don Bradman say that arrogance is tolerated but never admired.
My "arrogance" is partly gamesmanship on these boards. I know a lot of hard work needs to be done and you can't count your chickens before they hatch.
But I'm allowed to be as optimistic as I want to be.

In my "OPINION" Essendon are a bunch of over rated, lingerie wearing, girls blouses coached by a meglomaniac, attention seeking, paranoid fruitloop. You cheated salary cap to get the players you have & by all rights should be stripped of the 93 & 2000 flags.
Now that's just my "OPINION" so I can't be wrong.

And my point is that you can't justify everything you say by calling it an "OPINION".
For example. I could say
"In my opinion your a hommo". I have no basis for that assumption, but I don't have to apologise because it's only an "OPINION".

Dan let me ask you a question
Are essendon playing in the AFL or VFL
If it is Vfl
Then you are only bragging to melbourne club supporters, the rest of us dont care, nor respect it
If it is AFL
Then Essendon sit on top with Adelaide,Kangaroos,Eagles,etc
So make up your mind and please quit with this 3 century crap, because the Afl has only been around for less than 2 decades

No im not for 2 reasons
1.It is now the AUSTRALIAN football league, you know the whole of Australia is involved and not just Victoria,increased competion (an entirely new competition) and 6 is hardly a few exceptions
2.Tell me why Essendon deserve to be ahead of Adelaide and the Eagles, condsidering they haven't been in the competition for anywhere near as long as essendon
3.The majority of Essendons premireships were in the VFL, and that is where it should stay

As much as i would like to the eagles are equal on top of the AFL ladder, i really can't.
Essendon are the greatest club ever. I would say that over 50% would say that they are the best.

They haven't had the opportunity to do what essendon has done.
History could have been completely different had all the teams been their from the beggingin
So that is why those records are irelevant unless your talking in terms of the VFL

Technically its still a continuation of the old VFL. By all other means it is really a seperate entity and should be seen as such. The 'old' VFA sides were the ones to form the 'new' vfl in 1897 when the breakaway first happened yet they didnt carry over the old premierships with them. If the AFL now sees (and it seems it does) fit to aknowledge the previous flags won by the Victorian sides as part of AFL premiership success then those sides have every right to claim them.
Be interesting to see though if the interstate clubs started a push to make the aknowledgment of flags won in the AFL only those won since the introduction of WestCoast into the league, or the actual renaming (90?) of the league as the official AFL.
As a sidenote if they did take it from when the Eagles came into the competition the Hawks are the leaders as weve won three flags since the came in.

DRAKEY...Essendon's premiership winning side this year, bears no relevance to our salary cap breaching...that was 5 years back for ****'s sake.
Anyway, which ever way you people choose to count premierships...(AFL or AFL/VFL, I prefer the latter) Essendon will be the greatest team ever after they go back to back next year!
Currently they have the best side ever...and that's indisputable!

To get in before anyone else, as an Essendon supporter I don't consider the current side to be the best team ever. Its certainly not unargueably the best. The best performed team in a single season is unargueable I'd have thought.
Personally the centre to centre line
Lloyd, Lucas, Misiti, Wallace Fletcher. from the GF is definitely not up to the standard of Dunstall, Brereton, Wallace,Mew, Langford (if I've got this right) and would struggle against the Ess 85 team.
To me down the flanks and on the bench is the best since I've seen.
Long, Caracella, Mercuri, Hird, Rama, Blumfield,Solomon, Wellman,Hardwick, Johnston, Wellman,Allesio,Moorcroft,Barnard
