Obviousily not wanting the best for our team. Pick 60 over 100. Yeah they both are pretty shit but 60 is still a long way ahead of 100 and gives the club the best chance to get the best player available. There will still be players with the potential to become good players at pick 45 in this draft. Couldve meant Myles Sewell.

As you say, it's a shit pick.

It's no real loss- and the level at which people is talking up this magical shit pick you'd think it would mean something.

I mean, take a look at the standard a pick 60 brings in in the modern era- it's rookie upgrades, passes or recycled hacks from other clubs. The only decent names I can see in the past 10 years are Malceski, Rischitelli and Matty Stokes.

Hidden gems just don't stay hidden like they used to.

That's when Knights was coach. Completely different kettle of fish.

Is it?

Same Football and list managers.

Same situation with both players wanting out. So the fact that Knights isn;t coach hasn't changed anything in these players opinion.

Hamilton said after trade week that we were only planning to use 3 trades therefore making a trade for pick 46 wasn;t worthwhile.

Even though it was well known two players on our list were disgruntled.

There should have been a reasonable expectation that these two players could walk.

I don;t like getting stuck into the Footy Club but we can't let this sort of stuff happen year after year.

Looking down old drafts, it's likely (I know WCE are out by about 30, Norf only having 2 or 3) that a lot of clubs will be out by the 3rd or 4th rd.
That pick 80 odd might end up only mid-60s live.

When I read that Neagle had been delisted, made my day.

Kinda like winning division four in lotto.

Send him to the knackery. He'll be totally useless in a any metro comp.

This years draft is considered to be a very good draft with most people saying that you could throw a blanket over picks 20-50 but that it lightens up for talent after pick 50.

Lance - we were no chance to get Cloke. It was a freakin pipe dream where all of the stars and planets would have had to align. If this is why we didn't trade Houli then we are in serious trouble because while it is nice to chase - we would have had to get past WC, Bris, and Rich all the time while Cloke has decalred he will not sign. As if they would be stupid enough to lock on to someone with a guy like Cloke in the ether.

In the end - this just reaks of poor list management. We should have takent the pick for Houli - bugger tyring to be cute. If we were going to flick blokes like Neagle and Atkinson, then stock up on picks that are better than a 5th rounder in a compromised draft or a 2nd rounder in a weak pre-season draft.

Have to agree with this as much as i wanted Cloke.

The club has chased at least 10-15 quality uncontracted players for NIL result.

Atkinson and Neagle have been walking a tightrope for the last two years with form, committment and attitude.

Most were surprised that Atkinson was retained on the list and Neagle too, except that he was contracted.

Time to move on and focus on picking the eyes out of the draft and to correctly develop the players.

So we should have sacrificed any chance of landing Cloke so that there wasn't a perception of getting nothing?

I'm glad you're not in charge of recruiting then, RT.

I was waiting for Cloke to be thrown up.

We were never going to get Cloke if he went into the pre season draft than the club with the first selection (West Coast) wouldn't have let such a quality player pass up. Hes one of the better CHF's in the game, no one lets that slip.

Than have been alot more better picks around 60 than just those you mentioned, but im not about to get into the nitty gritty.

Your right those hidden gems might not get missed like past years, but as recruiter improves they find better and better players at picks 40-60 so it levels out.

Neagle not up to it and with the likes of Gumby & Carlisle coming through no place for him. Really lucky hes getting the opportunity to get on the Rookie list really - probably only because he is son of a great. Atkinson - who cares.

Im not complaining Neagle is gone, but it means that we will probably have to

a) pick up Gorringe with pick 8 and play a ruck full forward rotating
b) pick up Anthony in the pre season draft
c) play Hurley full forward

Im all for plan C and hope we take a midfielder with pick 8 Atley or Caddy.

Alot more better picks in the past 10 years? Maybe one better pick that I missed- Brian Harris.

But outside of that- if you're not willing to look into who was actually drafted after pick 60 in the past 10 years, don't even bother arguing.

i agree.

move Hurley to FF (even though i'd prefer him CHB)

Thank goodnees, Atkinsn should have gone 2 years ago. Neagle is ordinary. Have a feeling we may be tempted to pull the trigger on Darling at 8 now, which is probably not the worst idea. That said I'd still go for a midfielder and get a Full Forward at 31.

Five picks in the ND/PSD.

What pick will we use for a ruckman ?

Personally and this is only my opinion, I would get a mature ruckman in the PSD/rookie draft. I have a lot of faith in Bellchambers/Ryder as a long term ruck pairing, and we have Hille in the short term.

The other option is John Anthony as a PSD pick.

Playing Carlisle is also a possibility. He's still young a skinny but he was impressive when he played.

I like the look of Mellington with a very late pick.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but I found a picture of Tyson Slattery in the "Bombers train" gallery on the AFL Website. It looks like he's fighting for a rookie spot at the moment too.

I also like the look of Little, but be wary he is a one trick pony. Neagle annoyed me like nothing before, he had all the talent in the world, but was just another Cupido- lazy. Mellington I have not seen, so I'll take your word on it.

We have two late picks, I hope we punt on a few players.

Pretty sure I read the club has indicated it will re-draft him as a rookie. Certain he has agreed, so he will be at Essendon.

At that pick range 60+ it would be a punt. I would also be interested in picking up Duscher.

Some of the best players are drafted in that range..namely our coach and also a pretty decent player in Dane Swan! There are gems, we need to find them.

Duschner to me I am 50/50 on, as a PSD pick sure as we won't lose much either way, I'd prefer a national draft pick to be someone else. Seeing we have 5 picks we need:

a. 2 genuine midfielders
b. Small crumbing forward
c. Full forward
d. VFL midfielder

PSD: VFL ruckman (best avail.)
