I think Carlton's pace around the ground will worry us alot. As soon as a Garlett/Yarran/Armfield etc get the ball over the back of a pack they are incredibly hard to stop. With Dempsey out and us not being the quickest of teams anymore, I would say this would be one of Carlton's major strengths and is something they could exploit us on if they come in breathing fire.
This is a danger game and if we want to be a top 8 team let alone a top 4, we must win these 50/50 games. Carlton lack some of our class and polish but they are not to be under estimated. They are very dangerous running into open space and we need to make sure we flood back and play with a Goddard or a Heppell behind the ball possibly to close down the spaces for them.
Having said all this I'm very exited to see The Derp get the nod and i think even with his relatively light frame he could be a huge threat tonight, dare I say that he is probably our only 'pure forward' out of our key position stocks playing tonight and would probably have a bit of a better idea on how to lead into space and how to present at the ball. (I'm praying all of this more than expecting however considering how young he is and this being his first game in a forward-line with the presence of the likes of a Hurley and Crameri.)
All in all, should be a good game and hopefully we get over the line in a good performance by the boys. In Jobe we trust.
