Looked a bit slack in the last against the Swans still managed to lock them down does anyone see an obvious weakness to go for? I'm thinking speed and inexperience they need to restrict our space and hit us on the break we need to work hard to close them down I think it will be much closer than this week.:)

essendon have a huge weakness - usually if the opposition's combined total of goals and behinds are greater than our own, and the final sire blows, we lose the game. Exploit this weakness and the game is yours.

in addition, the game will be won in the midfield (a statement said about every game, between every club, as though it's a dramatic insight into how the game will pan out)

We should, quite simply, smash them in the midfield. Do that, and we cut off supply to their dominant key forwards.

Lucas had a quiet one last night, but otherwise has had a cracker of a year. Wouldnt mind putting a quiet fiver on him to make the AA half forward line. Would actually like to see Staker go to Lucas (more mobile than Hunter) and send Hunter forward, they have both Micheal and Fletch down there.

I think that with the Bombers we have way to much pace for them so we must play our game and make them chase us.

In simple terms RUN ,RUN & KEEP RUNNING. ( a bit like forest gump ):D

our speed isnt such an issue anymore compared to last year... our midfeild has gained a bit of form as of late, the main thing for you guys is if judd and kerr can beat our tags you will win. from memory last time we had welsh and mcveigh on them and did pretty well... we roughed them up a bit which was good to see.. i think it will be a tactic employed yet again, its set for one firey game... i dont think we have lost a game this seen in which we have been underdogs. i imagine we will be underdogs in this contest...

lookign forward to it, its gonna be a ripper, big game for us if we win it will do a hell of a lot for our finals chances.... wouldnt think a loss would effect your side that much your gonna be a top 2 side regardless. only threat is the cats.

Just make sure you kick it before you run through the goals boys...then feel free to keep running

And Ryder, having an awsum season, kept O'Loughlin to just 1 goal.
I think your midfielders will have to kick the majority of the goals to win. I think our backs will hold your forwards quite well so I doubt you'll get much goals out of there.

O'Loughlin is over rated, he only kicked one against us as well.

The last time we played you at the TD Lynch kicked 4.1 and Chick 5 goals.

Even better, the last time Lynch played on Mal Michael, he kicked 8 goals!

Midfield and in general ruck stocks. Hille and Laycock have literally 0 defensive side to there games. Get Cox to drift forward at all costs along with Seabs.

well appartnely thats were we were going to stuggle against the Swans just remember Eagles have not had alot of wins against the Dons in Melbourne and we will have a full house there so look out were coming for u

Our forward line struggled against the swans and the backline won it for us. ATM our backline is functioning better than our forwardline (although earlier in the year it was the opposite.)

Hille does OK around the ground but as mentioned, struggles inside defensive fifty, but can be a handful up forward. You'll need to somehow get Fletcher to man up and not run riot in the backline or he'll repel attack after attack, i think if you can take him out of the game we'll struggle to win, but I can't see anything but Fletcher roaming loose in defence with your forward setup.
Mal is in extremely good form and should hold Lynch (despite his bad past record), so you'll need to find a lot of goals from the midfield.

Obvious weakness is the midfield, although its improving its still not capable of competing anywhere near to the level of your elite group. Hille will get beaten by Cox, but if he's not disgraced and we don't get murdered in the clearances we can kick a winning score. I get the feeling this one will turn into a shootout.
