It has to be said. Perhaps the way to ease (as cure is not possible) the pain to those who cannot get a GF ticket is to expand it when they spend money on the MCG

It's blindingly obvious and simple. One good point about waverley was that it was meant to expand to seat 150,000 people. I went to the back of the top deck at waverley once and the view wasn't that bad. If they applied the energy being spent trying to rip it dows on making the 'G' configurable to , say 125,000, it would be a start

The money ? Where is the money coming from for the redevelopment fpor a second rate athletics meeting (commonwealth games)? and perhaps the surplus from the waverly sale could go into expanding the G

It makes sense.

It's funny how in the rush to come up with solutions everyone usually points the finger at the MCC and AFL when the problem is actually caused by their (and everyone elses) club. Each club gets 1500 GF tickets. That adds up to 24,000 seats. If those were made available to the members of the competing clubs then very few (if any) would miss out on seeing the Grand Final. The clubs are too bloody greedy to give them up as they can currently flog them off for anywhere between 800 to 1000 dollars a pop. They don't make too much noise about it though when their members miss out though. They (the clubs) just wring their hands and whine about the MCC/AFL and "corporates". Bastards.

And for the record I am an AFL member and an Essendon member. I queued at 5am for a ticket and ended up 10 rows from the back of the top deck. A bit pissed off at that but less so than those that missed out I'm sure.
