Interesting to see Ricciuto in injury trouble again. Had quite a bit of treatment on his groin in the first half. Was able to continue but I'll be relieved if he comes up for Friday night's game.

The injuries seem to be catching up with him this season. He had the hamstrong tendonitis, the hamstring strain and now the groin problem. Unfortunately it is almost inevitable that soft tissue injuries will increase in their frequency with age.

Got me thinking about our impending retirements over the next three seasons or so. Of the 'oldies', who do you think will retire first? My predicted order is:

1. Clarke, 2006
2. Ricciuto, 2007
3. Hart, 2007
4. McLeod, 2008
5. Edwards, 2008
6. Goodwin, 2008
7. Bassett, 2008

Hope they can go on longer though.

Thinking about our defence...we have Hart, Bassett and Tourney to retire shortly....all around the 188 -190cm in height capable of playing short & tall....but with the possible exception of Obst I can't see any replacements currently on our list....draft target me thinks

I agree. Thats why you are seeing Adelaide "re-developing" the likes of Hinge (188 cm) and Jericho (190 cm) as defenders.

Then of course there is the 183 cm Pfeiffer.

Definetly something to look up come draft time.

I think you have cut short just about everyone on that list.

The info you posted on roos injuries may be what you have read in the papers but the groin has been an ongoing problem since pre Christmas. He'll keep playing because that's what he does.
He'll get fit again play on for as long as he wants to.

Neil Craig is pretty firm on age restrictions in that he doesn't believe in them.

Lets not forget Gibson too Stiffy if he gets on the park.

Douglas could easily play in the back half too as a small defender.

This draft we will clearly go for some KPP and some hard running tall players who can play as a tall in defence or as a running midfielder or defender.

I was looking at our list tonight as a mattre of coincidence. The number of our players in the 28-31 bracket is a cause for some concern, particularly give the quality of these players.

Careful management of the list will be needed.

I am sure though that the club is well advanced in their preparations for 2007 and beyond.

High on the list must be the following:

Two KPP who can take strong pack marks and can kick well, accurately and long.

A small crumbing forward who can kick goals on a regular basis.

A tall hard running defender or midfielder.

Another high quality midfielder with a high level of pace and acceleration.
