"Fevola will return to face Gardaí

Monday, 06 November 2006
Brendan Fevola was thrown out of the Australian squad after an alleged fracas. The Australian International Rules footballer Brendan Fevola has returned to Ireland to answer allegations that he was involved in an incident with a barman in a Galway city centre hotel last week. RTÉ News understands he will not be charged with any offence but will receive what is described as an 'adult caution' from a Garda superintendent in Galway later today.

Fevola, one of Australia's leading goal scorers, was suspended following the incident in Galway's Imperial Hotel.

It had been reported he was returning to Australia but it is now believed he spent the past week in a European city while discussions relating to the incident took place."

Also the Age reports that Malouf will fly to Singapore to meet Fev and counsel him before his return to Melbourne. Carlton are unhappy with AFL's handling of the whole affair.
Hopefully he can turn this into a positive and put his head down over pre-season and just step up another gear in his playing.

He is just cautioned... how does this not surprise me!
I believe his story of events is the truth, i reckon there might have been some racial slurs thrown around and Demetriou wanted to protect his beloved game.

Bring back State of Origin!!!

I think it reads a little easier like this...

I think it is best that Fev just worries about his football now.

yeh its one thing to be physical and to make an impression on the opposing team, but it was pretty bad, definately went too far. how many of the irish guys ended up going to hospital? if it wasn't such a success with the fans (and therefore bringing in $$$) it would prob be abandoned - 80,000+ rocked up to the last game

Maybe fat Demetriou should give some more of the cashmoney to the poor Irish bastards who risk being unable to work in their regular occupations when they get injured. I have to say, although I enjoy watching a bit of a brawl - I only like it when it is fair. Too many times I saw Australians standing over guys on the ground punching them in the head, while the poor little bastards were trying to protect their heads. I know there were some snipers and headbutting etc, but really watching the whole thing just reminded me of yr11 boys picking on yr 9 boys at school.

I like what one irish bloke said "If you wanna box lets box, if you wanna play football, then lets play football".
