Players will have a different rating when you play them out of position. For example if you play a CM out on the Left Wing then his stats will be affected. He might be a 84 as a CM but only 81 as a LW.

Think of it as playing Fernando Torres as a Center Back and see if he is any good.

I've noticed the same thing. When I started my MM mode, Arshavin was 88 overall. Upon starting a new match, his overall went down to 83 playing in his preferred position. I fiddled around with the formations a bit, and his stats went up to 87 playing as a CM (WTF?!). I then switched back to the default formation, put Arshavin in the same position as when he was 88, and now he was 93... What... the... hell?!

Also, this assistant manager is really pissing me off. Even though I turned it off, it's still changing my team around. After every match my team gets all mixed up. So before every match, I need to swap pretty much every player on my team to get them in the correct positions. I can't do this for 40+ matches a season. I bloody hope this is fixed in the patch.

I played this a fair bit over the last two nights, mainly co-op with a mate and it is a real struggle. You really have to work for your goals and it is bloody easy to lose the ball if you aren't careful. It will take me a bit before I get used to it I reckon.

The refs are ****en annoying though. So ticky touch sometimes but other games they let it go a bit more which makes for a far more enjoyable, free-flowing game.

Completely agree with your post though mate! I will win the ball... ref gives a free to the opposition but then I charge forward, knock the ball past a defender, he plays the man and barges me straight off the ball and it is play on! It is so damn frustrating.

Its weird isn't it. It comes and then it goes away again, I have to like click links to finally get around to it.

You're never ever ever going to get a penalty when you seem to get hacked by an opponent in the box, when he is simply tackling with X.

You also have to anticipate which way they're are going. It will make it easier. If you can't anticipate which way he will turn, then your're in strife.

The one's who are angry with the ref's, are the one's who are under constant pressure for the whole game, go up foward and put your opponent under pressure.

Online is shit. Iv'e played about 20 games, and have had 7 losses, 5 of those from losing connection to PSN and therefore EA.

Sometimes it's EA and not the PSN but i still get the loss, which tells me it's my connection. Iv'e tried everything, fowarding ports, this thing called DMZ and manually entering my IP adress.

It still signs-out but only when i play Fifa, it's screwed. It's soo random aswell.

Agreed on long shots. I played FIFA09 for hours on end, and can honestly say I only ever scored upwards of 10 long range (30+ yards out). In fact you get so discouraged at a point that you just don't bother.

Same thing with free kicks. Instead of the ball becoming a balloon, it stays heavy. I found free kicks really frustrating in 09, and it seems to get harder the closer to goal you got. In 10 its so simple, and the ball does what you would expect it to do.

Got to love how Ronaldo puffs his chest before a free kick, and how he does the jerky stop before taking a penalty.

But its the little things that just make it bizarrely authentic:

- Hitting it into the ref, losing possession, and you hear the crowd with that sarcastic cheer

- Defenders defending. Defending is actually fun. Admittedly it was funner in 09 than in 08, but they've upped it again. Slide tackle animations are superb. One on one defending doesn't leave you chasing thin air like in 09

- Some of the incredible keeper-save animations

- 8 directional movements? You mean we've actually been playing football games by controlling players with 8 movements?

- Sideline ref dodging to get out of the way of an incoming ball

- Players stopping to watch the ball trickle out of bounds when they know theres no chance

- Through balls feel just right. In 08 they were impossible. In 09 they were too easy. Here, just right.

- Throw in are more realistic - CPU never lets you know where its going like in some previous games

- Keepers throw the ball straight away! What a god send. If a keeper collects it on the ground, and I want a quick break away, I wont have to wait for him to get up and compose himself before throwing.

- The feeling of hitting a long pass, even if its just left back passing to right back is insanely satisfying

- The feeling of not having the ball under your control - how much better is it marauding down the touchline and trying to keep the ball in play with a player tailing you? Makes it that more challenging and realistic. Same thing with one-on-ones, you've got to time it perfectly.

Theres more but I cant think of anything else. As you said, a masterpiece.

If anything, I don't feel that the reviews so far relay how good this game is. Even though its getting 90s consistently, its much better than any review I've read made it out to be.

Got this game late yesterday, ****ing brilliant, the best FIFA I have played.

Started manager mode today with Arsenal on world class, and it really is a step up challenge-wise from FIFA 09, considering yesterday I beat Man Utd 6-0 on world class. First friendly game was against Bolton and I was shocked to be beaten 1-0, I thought it was a fluke, but lo and behold I was down 1-0 to Wigan for the better part of 80 minutes until I finally managed to sneak an equalizer in with Arshavin at the 86th minute, and luckily this gem from Bendtner in injury time, with a bit of help from Theo Walcott.

Definitely tempting me to buy it. I should not have bought 09 2 months ago as it's a bit of a waste, especially with the improvement of 10. Might have to dig a little deeper though ... sounds phenomenal.

As I told you I've been having the same issue and it was the same one that plagued me and dempool during our matches.

It is certainly an EA/FIFA 10 issue as I can keep any other game on for an hour or two and there's no issue but with FIFA 10 it is signing me out usually within about 30 minutes.

Still haven't checked out the FIFA forums to see if this is a widespread issue but there is definitely something wrong.
