Consider this, Hase, Headland, Hayden and Dodd are all out injured. That means in our 'best 22' we'll have four blokes who wouldn't be playing if we had a full squad to chose from. You've just named three of them.

I can't believe they dropped Schammer before some others..

He had a decent game on the weekend.
This has been a while coming. Has been ordinary all year apart from the 22 touches against the eagles way back in round 3.

Duffield would be on his last chance as well this week. Peake needs to lift as well but not as much as Duffman.

McManus has to pass a fitness test today so the emergencies of (schammer, warnock, mark johnson) one may still play.

Agreed.

Duffield has done a few good things since he has been back, good to see he is getting a decent run. Though if it wasn't for some of our injuries I think he'd be back in the WAFL. Hope he can seize the opportunity this time.

Maybe Tequila Schammer is injured? And they've managed to keep it quiet?

I dunno, but there's several others I'd be dropping before I'd drop Schammer.

bugger. cant believe mcmanus, thornton and duffield all made it in over schammer. its obvious we need pace and schammer brings that to the side. hopefully theres a late change with macca going out for schammer.

I've got a feeling Harvs is treating Duff as a bit of a project player. He's shown some quality sides to his game, when on song he can play in a number of positions - he's also been a bit of a crab lately (goodish game last week though). I suspect he's going to give him a good number of games on the trot and see whether he's part of the program going forward or he's trade bait. I wouldn't be surprised that Harvs has sat him down and said, "I'm not going to drop you no matter what, so just go out there and play X weeks without fear and show me what you've got." In the end of the day, our younger 'middle tear' players are going to have to put in over the next few years as they move into 'senior player' mode and we need to know now whether they are up to it - this season is as good as any to find out.

Just a thought.

Hahaha, Schammer is fast toenail? No way. He can't run fast in a straight line but he is pretty agile and has a great step, so he looks a bit better on the run than he really is. I'm not trying to knock him, I like him and think he is a good player, but in no way is he fast.

Nice point PapaJ.
I can;t help but admire the Duffman. I thought his match last week was awwright against the Blues....
I really hope he backs it up with a good showing against the Power...

He isn't fast, just looks it because his legs go a mile a minute.

Schammer - the only player in the league to run himself into trouble.

But from last week, it looked like Harvs kept Schammer and Peake fresh for the last quarter, to provide some run perhaps. Both did little though. And it may be punishment for that... ???

I can't believe after the trashing Schammer has got here up to last week that people are surprised.
A couple of weeks ago he hurt his back and was in doubt, since then has played only 50mins a game and hasn't been getting the ball so maybe thats why he has been left out.I also can't believe Thorton has got in after two poor weeks of constantly giving the ball away

He'll be playing for his future in any other games this year, as will Peake & Thornton.

AmI not seeing things truly?
Schammer is not quick, does not kick well and has dodgy decision making skills yet people stll believe he is the future!
TRADE HIM WHILE WE STILL MIGHT GET SOMETHING FOR HIM!:thumbsd:

Not to mention he spends half his time sprawled on the ground after being knocked off his feet all the time...

Schammer is a very, very average player who contributes F all...

He's simply a depth player and I hope the only reason he has remained in the team this long is becoz of injuries.

Schammer's had his chance.

I have a feeling if Duff had the same luxury Schammer has had with the same amount of chances, he'll end up a far more damaging player.

.

Face it, neither of them are quality AFL players. Do you think Adelaide still want Schammer? Second round pick?

Amen

How many times do I have to hear Schammer is quick before I explode
. He's not, nor is he skilled. Evasive? maybe, not convinced at all. About time he was dropped.

Thornton has played 6 games this season - 4 of those have been woeful to pathetic, 1 has been very good v Geelong, last week was average

Duffield has played 4 games this year - 1 was very good v Wce, 1 was barely average v Carlton last week & the other 2 have been pathetic

Schammer has played all 9 games - 2 have been pathetic, 6 have been averae & 1 was very good v Wce

McManus has played 6 games - 2 have been pathetic & the other 4 have been average or worse

Peake has played 6 games - 2 have been pathetic, 3 average or worse & 1 very good

At the moment Freo are carrying 5 players that could easily have been replaced with rookies or others to see where the rest of our list are travelling. Harvey continues crapping on about "stability"...stability for what? These 5 players have been carried for many years....would rather see what Head, Hinkley, Brock, Warnock, Dunn & Smith (even though he's playing in Wafl ressies!) would do if they were given similar chances of a few games strung together. The above 5 players are not the future for Freo

I really can't disagree with this. No other team in the league would be carrying this number of average to poor consistent "performers". Although in fairness to Duffield he hasn't been aforded the luxury of games the others have.

Completely agree, but the fact remains there is not much choice but to play them. There are no others to choose from.

Maybe Harvey is hoping that Thornton, Peake and Schammer show some form so they can attempt to get some return for them in the off-season. The only one of the three I would keep is Schammer.
