With all the bickering about playing and resting players before finals i have come up with our best 22 for the first qualifying final.

B MACKIE SCARLETT HARLEY
HB MILBURN EGAN ENRIGHT
C WOJCINSKI BARTEL COREY
HF S. JOHNSON N. ABLETT CHAPMAN
FF STOKES MOONEY LING
R OTTENS G.ABLETT COREY
INT KELLY HUNT BLAKE ROOKE

EM KING D. JOHNSON VARCOE

Hope not missed anybody but with a fully fit 22 king DJ and trav just miss out IMO.
However they are quality depth and ack up players if anyone falls over...
thoughts or changes?

Looks pretty good to me except for one thing, now I know Corey is a superb player but I don't think even he can fill two spots. ;)

Have a feeling you may have meant to name Selwood in one of those spots.

That would be my ideal line up although if fit I would start Rooke on a forward flank and SJ closer to goal and obviously Selwood in the side (i'd have him on the bench). I am pretty confident that's how Bomber see it too.

Varcoe for Hunt too IMO. Hunt is going along ok in the ones but keeping the ball in the forward 50 will be a key component of the finals campaign. Varcoe is being rested right now so he can be brought back into the side. We have enough big bodies down back...our bigger guys are playing tall and small of late...so I really feel the more pressing issue come finals will be keeping that forward pressure high.

Mate, Ling in the forward line I do not agree with. His value in the centre is enormous, despite his good goal-kicking.

decent lineup except Ling will start next to junior replacing corey, varcoe will start in the pocket and selwood to replace hunt on the bench.

I was assuming that Ling was named in the pocket but we were playing one short in the forward line while he tagged a midfielder.

Now imagine Craig Willis reading out the list over a big PA system.

*Shivers with excitement*

Very, very good side. The only changes that I see might happen would be King/Blake which will be decided over the next few weeks and whether or not Rooke overcomes his hamstring problems.
If he does he'll be in,if not I see Varcoe as his replacement for his defensive pressure and crumbing abilities.:thumbsu:

Agreed, however I'd start Kelly over Varcoe in the HFF spot, if of course Rooke couldn't come up. Or Chappy up the ground further for that matter.

Kelly has looked pretty good recently, popped up well against Freo and he has quietly been putting the numbers together, back to his classy self.

Agree with you there G. Was including Varcoe into the side, would be electric as a burst player coming on at the 15minute mark of the Qtr.;)

Unfortunately Rookey wont come up I think, so Varcoe will come in

And Thompson will wimp out and drop Blake for King

I've heard that Maxy Rooke is coming along well - no miracle from Munich treatment but things are looking more favourable.
King replacing Blake will depend on his performance this week I'd imagine - but Bomber's intention is to get him back into the 1s sooner rather than later. Catman's line-up is impressive - it is a winning combo - and I'd leave Josh Hunt there.

Richo182... are you trying to get off your 'newbie' status today or something?
By the amount and content of your posts on the Geelong board today, it seems like you've made a bet with someone you can make it over the 100 posts by the end of the day.
Keep trying

Seems pretty good. Allthough i would prefer DJ to Hunt at this stage.

And the 2nd ruckman posi is yet to be decided..........

Emergencies to that side: Blake/King (whichever isnt in), Hunt/DJ(ditto), Varcoe/Byrnes (depending on how they go for the next 5 weeks).
