That's Subiaco though. Where I sat on the fence for the preseason game it was fairly cramped (and I'm only 5'4").

That end's the worst though Shibz, both wings are fine regarding leg room but on the northern end it's crappy old wooden bench seats. The southern wing has an awesome view but you get the sun in your eyes for day games which spoils it.

Membership prices are influenced by the club but moreso the Commission.

Beer prices/food prices have nothing to do with Freo or the Bloat. Those prices come largely from the ridiculously high access costs levelled on the vendors by the WAFC & Subi Oval "management".

Nana's on the other hand are controlled by noone. They roam free and dispense justice swiftly. Bag a Nana's favourite player and you'll get shivved faster than if you grass up someone on D Block.

Aren't taxpayers getting a $900 cash injection from the spendy Labour govt? There's your membership right there people...

My membership has been rolled over the past 2.5 season since being away... lucky because I imagine trying to get a seat now means touble....I come back finally and can't even see the Wiz - better join Souths to get that fix.

WAFC - evil empire !!
Worse than the Toast !!
And they've stitched up the Western Force as well.
Horrible People !! Jeff Ovens originally, satan !!

Or you could just go without food for 3 hours. I don't understand why so many people eat at the footy.

In the past I normally went without - Chicken Threat doesn't deserve a monopoly. But when I got my hands on one of my adopted nanna's sangas... more than willing to part with a fiver for imported ham and cheese, fresh herbs and roma tomato, home baked bread and always a story to go with it...

Certainly made last year's stretch of close losses more palatable...

The restriction on supply is the absence of competition. If you want a beer, you can pay $6 for a mid-strength, or you can go without (beer is not so good in a hip flask). If people were not prepared to pay $6 for a beer, it wouldn't cost $6.

And therein lies the crux of my argument. $5 for a mid-strength is taking the piss, and I doubt they'll sell the same volumes at $6 to reward their markup. But if their captive market strategy is what they want to go for, good luck to them in capitalising on the consequences of fan's apathy.

I'll stick to my hippie all the same :)

I was always wondering the same thing. Some of the food available there I wouldn't even eat for free, let alone pay for it. Beer, well I don't like drinking beer out of plastic cup [I know, safety reasons], so I don't drink beer at the games. I generally just buy water, eventually a coke or something.

What do you mean rolled, can you put your membership on hold while overseas?

I heard that they introduced plastic cups at sporting events worldwide because of Celtic fans.

Does this Nanna want another couple "grandkids"? We could be on to something here, and all the Nannas around me are on the dont eat for 3 hours plan.

Highest prices + worst venue + an expected ordinary season after a shit one last year. Pretty pathetic by the club IMO.

This is why I didn't renew in 2009. Now the club is sending me 'you can still renew' mail on a postcard. Buying an 11 game membership to either Dockers or Eagles is poor value for money. I'd do it anyway if I had the money, but I don't. :(

So was it the $10 price rise or that you don't have the money regardless?

Someone I spoke to (I can't remember who) mentioned that it's cheaper to buy the fortnightly ticket from Ticketmaster then it is to pay for the membership...not sure if that's true. My friend got that postcard, I think the cheapest package was $217. It's about $30 for a seat at a game (budget), so that's 11 x 30 = $330. Maybe not...
