What do you mean "narrow game"?

Not an accepted term I agree

Hard to explain but he takes the ball and seems to move forward regardless of what else is going on. This is often the best option but can be too predictable whereas someone like McLoud has unpredictable changes of pace and direction so is more evasive and has more options.

brent moloney is someone who has a narrow game, still good though. Bit like mattner, charge forward and kick. I didnt think VB had that much pace. If he doesnt then a lack of vision could be a problem.

Understand, will take notice of it when I finally get to see him play ;)

That's a fair comment on the game as he plays it at the moment. He's a young buck trying to find his way amongst the big boys, so he won't take too many risks at this stage.

He does have a really good footy brain though, so the finesse and trimmings are still likely to come down the track with more experience at this level.

Saw one of the first games of the year Eagles vs Bays. Both KNights and Hinge were very impressive. KNights has gone on with it but i have rarely seen Hinges figure in the best players.

BTW I thought The Count looked like a fish out of water against North.

One thing I noticed with Watts lately is that he will take a ripper mark and imediately play on to kick a goal when he marks 30 out directly in front. He has more confidence in his kicking on the run than he does on set shots. I think its time this aspect of his game is addressed.

Fergus Watterhouse?

Not great peripheral vision ;)
Think the comment was clarified to say that he's moving in a beeline and not varying his running angles or speed to lose opponents ;)

Saw a bit of Nye in the ressies on Saturday.

He impressed me with his attack on the ball and one percenters.

He should be playing SANFL league on this form.

I saw the Roosters v Sturt game and was disappointed in Nye. He seemed to hang on the edge of the packs waiting to receive. Was this a one off, as I hope it was, can you tell me abit more about him?

Springy, how did Ladhams and Smith go in this game ?

Ladhams didn't play, from memory he was an emergency for the AFC. I didn't see much of Smithy. I tend to look away now. Watching him run is like watching a transvestite trialling out her/his first pair of high heels - awkward and inept :D

I saw his game on friday knight at the parade.

He showed a burst of pace and dodged a few legs with an inspiring 30 metre run but sprayed the kick wide.
Is getting plenty of the ball, and is one of our pacy, elusive players. Needs to work on conversion, with his many shots for goal.

I believe he may get a game this year, playing around half forward to join the other 6 eagles who played sunday.

Just need to get Knighter, Watts & Hentschell in the Crows side together and then a top four spot would be secure :D

thoroughly agree Stiffy - i dont know what kicking coaching the players actually do receive but for years i have thought that several players should have their kicking technique remedied (as distinct from just kicking practice)

eg Burton - leans back as he kicks and gets under the ball
Skipworth - i'm sure that he could add at least a couple of metres to his kicking length by having his technique looked at etc
etc etc

and on a similar subject - i believe that a few players could add a bit of pace to their game (and especially "pace off the mark") by having their running techniques modified (eg Knights runs like a "plodder", Skippy again etc etc)

and finally - ditto with some players tackling techniques - i hate seeing innocuous "finger tackles"

i thought that i had better clarify my statement that "Knight runs like a plodder":
- by that i did not mean to infer that Knights is just an average player - IMO (barring injury) he will become a very good player for us - my comment meant only to say that he could even further increase his pace by some appropriate running techniques coaching
