I think he needs to focus on getting his body right and playing 20+ games next yearvan Berlo for captain coach.

I reckon I saw him with the coaches at a couple of home games.Did we ever hear anything much about his recovery? Was he back fully running, jumping and kicking by the end of the season?
Also was surprised we didn't hear more from him throughout the year in the media. He speaks better than pretty much any player in the league. He would have owned those guest commentary stints compared to blokes like Montagna. Missed a chance to raise his profile (and ours).
Was he in the box on game days?
Lol I know you were kidding, but I was being serious. Strewth.I think you need to focus on shutting up.
I believe he was at times. I think he was helping out with the SANFL team too.Did we ever hear anything much about his recovery? Was he back fully running, jumping and kicking by the end of the season?

Lose our captain, lose 6 or so games by less than 2 goals. Leadership. People bag VB on here but a captain will always be who the players say it is, never the fans.
Will be interesting to see, do you recon his second point rules danger out?Interesting that in Phil Walsh's interview today he said the players vote on the captain but the coach is the leader and there are two non-negotiables;
Van Berlo had a shitter year on game day in 2013 and didn't play in 2014. I've got no doubt he can fulfill the second requirement but I'm not real confident he can fulfill the first requirement.
- The player must get the job done on game day.
- The player must be committed to team and put team first.
I know his on-field performances have been a bone of contention and Phil's comments put it in the spotlight yet again. Is anyone confident Van Berlo will "get the job done on game day"? will he play a better game under Walsh?
Also how can Walsh tell if he will get the job done on game day when he hasn't played for 12 months.
I think the captain call will be interesting this year considering Walsh thought it was a bit much for Dangerfield and Sloane. I reckon Thommo would have been captain if he was coaching the last three years but Thommo is probably a bit done now, unfortunately.

Walsh loves Glass. Could be a smokey.Left fielder - Tals as captain. I honestly think he's one of the best leaders at the club. Stands up each and every week and does his job. Is one of our most important players, the defence general, a lot like Darren Glass as captain. Not afraid to tell it how it is. Spoke very well about the club on AA night in the interview with Robbo and Whateley.
I know it won't happen, but gee I'd love to see it happen.

Acknowledge those that rose above the below par coaching and still played well?How do we assess captaincy from 2013 if we accept that the coaching was below par?
