Early I know, but I want to look to the future.

Fremantle are currently double West Coast's score, and will finish 3rd if all things go accordingly, so we will be playing Freo in week 1 of the finals.

Rutten must take Pavlich. Time for Ben to make a stand (edit - Farmer just kicked another one for Freo) and put in a commanding performance.

We need to continually press Freo all over the ground, back to the way we were playing earlier in the season.

Freo plays man-on-man football, which will prevent us from playing a loose man in defence as we have all season when allowed to. I think this might actually help us as we won't have a Chad Cornes figure continually winning possesion in our forward line.

Need to strangle Farmer, he has been brilliant for them this year. I fear Jeffrey would slaughter Stiffy in their current respective form, so I would play McLeod on him and make him accountable.

Our midfield needs to stand up and attack the pill as though their lives depend on it. I'd love to see Hudson back in for Biglands, we'll have to see what Craig thinks.

Thoughts?

Freo won't beat us twice in Adelaide in a month.

Sydney is who I'd like to avoid even if we do have the wood over them.

Least of our problems at the moment

Least of our problems?

It is our only problem.

Win our first final and we have a home prelim regardless of form, injuries, coaches - anything.

yes we look set to play freo whether we beat melbourne or not. they will beat us twice in a month at home unless we have our players stand up and perform.

Freo might do what we did last year - winning form into the finals and then lose the first one - well I can only hope. Personally, I would rather play Freo than anyone - we would then know if we have learnt anything from our loss a couple of weeks ago.

We just need to get our sh**it together. Play like we did in the first quarter today (but straighter kicking goals) over the whole game and who knows. We know we can do it, we just need to apply ourselves to the task.

Will be interesting to see who comes in for the first final. I just hope Knights and Douglas are retained for the finals.

Provided we don't have any further injuries I think either an underdone McGregor or Stevens will come in for Trent and Torney for Hart. Hoping Bassett is right for next week. I think Craig should send a mesage by droppoing one of the underperfomers for Roo. If Stevens can get dropped on the bacj of one game then there should be quite a few looking over their shoulder.

1 week at a time.

I'd wait til sunday next weekend before making discussion on how to beat finals opponents, a lot can happen between now and then to shake up the top 8 order !!! e.g. should Freo on the off chance have a shock loss to port and syd beat carl, coll beat kangas and St.K beat Bris as you would expect they will, freo will fall right down to 6th as % is not on their side...

Interesting little tid bit i just noticed, Adel and Melb are the only top 8 teams playing against each other next weekend !! A round for some upsets maybe with bottom 8 giving it everything for the last match against top 8 opponents???

Steve didnt get dropped on the back on ONE bad game mate!

10 weeks ago if I was told you are playing Freo in the 1st QF at home I would have been over the moon.

This will be their 2nd final in 12 years of footy and lack finals experience. Let's hope they do an Adelaide and win 9 straight heading into the finals and stumble in the QF! Remember, Freo only 2 months ago were being called the most hot and cold team ever.

We will beat them.

Why is that ?

That would put them on your side of the draw which means that if they lost against us which is what you want, they then have a home final and if won that would mean they get to play you guys in the prelim (providing the Eagles won obviously).

I would have thought you would have wanted them to win so that they would stay on the other side of your draw. If I was an Eagles supporter I wouldnt want to have to play them again until the GF because you will lose your home ground advantage and boy did they look good today and they would go in 50/50 into any finals with the Eagles IMO.

So I am not sure what your theory is with you wanting us to smash them.

I hope the Eagles do play them in the finals then we get the opportunity for REVENGE and will shut them up for good :D best to get a bad match out of the system before the finals...woosha won't tolerate another performance such as this even though we did tank it;)

And how the Dockers are second favourite for the cup is beyond me:confused: they've only played one final (and lost) and no final experience....GOD the so called experts are gullible:)

My advice to you is to get used to the idea that Fremantle could go all the way. They may not come away with the Flag but they are a quality side. They are the second favourites because they deserve to be. Who is better than them? Sydney? Possibly, but not on current form. St Kilda? Um... look what happened two weeks ago. Previous years will count for very little this year. I know I will be hoping that if we play them their lack of finals experience will count against them but really I can't see it being much of a factor.

If I was you they'd be the last team I'd want the Eagles to play. You'd lose your home ground advantage for one.

As an outsider, it'd be a game I'd love to see. Eagles v Dockers in the prelim. Hopefully with us awaiting to play the winner. ;)
