. Further to this, i heard the story was you were promised a job as assistant coach for the next year, but when Cuddles got in, he decided he wanted his own people, not you.

Did you mean Drum?

When interviewed by new head coach Damian Drum, he was told no position would be available. His disappointment was obvious, telling the media

"this is a real kick in the teeth. I saw my involvement at the club as long-term. It was a huge decision to leave Hawthorn and it seems everything has gone sour since. My career was cut short by injury and now this. It is very hard to swallow. This means Drum and the club believe I have nothing to offer - or they have made a huge mistake. The only thing that has kept me buoyed is the fact that in this industry all players and coaches get kicked in the guts at some stage."

now now Lach those questions are almost identical to the others i posted.

It's about tone, context and who posts them.
Surpised he could take a break from lunch.
As a lot of your questions come very close to the line where it has already been stated there won't be a response, I won't be surprised it there aren't any

Do you feel that the AFL, via its constant rule changing, both on the ground and in the tribunal, is sanitising the game to such an extent that it is becoming less of a physical contest and, in turn, less enjoyable to watch?

What are the most significant changes, in a tactical sense, between when you played and today?

Was it a hard decision to leave hawthorn? Or because of you're ties with perth (being born there) it was more of an opportunity to go home and play football for a brand new club?

Mine is for the time he played.

Could also ask;

In terms of facilities and club in general what was it like coming from Hawthorn to Fremantle. What did Fremantle do better or worse compared to Hawthorn??

And what has improved since then?

Maybe ask him about his thoughts on going to Hawthorn instead of the fledgling West Coast outfit (although in hindsight this was obviously a major blessing for him :D)

I recall he was a brilliant WAFL player and I was surprised the eagles never picked him up. In the end he went to the Hawks. So:
  • Did he, at the time, feel snubbed by West Coast?
  • If so, did this spur him on? And does he attribute this snubbing to anyone in particular? e.g. Ron Alexander, John Todd??
  • Was he ever subsequently approached by West Coast to play for them?
  • And, as mentioned earlier, did he always have a desire to return to Perth someday? What I am aiming for here is whether he accepted the Freo captaincy moreso because he wanted to come home, or because he genuinely belived in this new club and wanted the challenge.
  • And following on from that, which WAFL club did Ben support as a child?

So, do people have questions relating to his playing days?

I do. What has been your some of your lasting impressions and memories playing and working along side legendary characters of the game like Brereton, Tuck, Dipper, Platten, coaching staff etc for a club who many have considered their Golden Age with Hawthorn FC. & what was your most personal highlight playing with Hawthorn.

In the early days at Freo' FC, from inside the changerooms, what was it like in contrast to be plasying with a new bunch of guys in the pioneering days of a new club.

Do you agree with the sentiment shared by some in these boards that Fremantle FC is an extension of long history & culture of Aussie Rules in the Fremantle & surronding areas, in contrast to just a team that started in the mid nineties based at Fremantle Oval?
