Folau is no longer contracted by RA so can say whatever he likes in whatever forum and it's none of RA's concern.
As an employee of RA there is an expectation that you don't jeopardise RA from a sponsorship or PR perspective. When the principal sponsor of your employer has a gay CEO and you post homophobic content to your public social media platform it's pretty obvious what is going to happen.
Whatever Folau got (which is too much if it's above $0) is a function of RA's contracts being shit which comes as no surprise as RA are a joke.
Well climate change is real whatever your opinion on the causes and pace. If you actually deny that the climate changes full stop then you should probably visit a museum or watch Ice Age. Climatic conditions influence fires. Climatic change as the sole cause? No, absolutely not. But if it's hotter and drier and fires occur when it's hot and dry...
Now I can't prove that God didn't start the NSW fires (some were started by arsonists, fallen power lines etc. so I'll just assume he is responsible for those by playing the "mysterious ways" trump card) but if we are playing the judgement game then well known SSM supporter and all around good guy Pope Benedict visited Australia in 2008 and then Black Saturday happened in February 2009 so maybe old God needs to sort his shit out.

Correct. And another player could do exactly what Folau did, with again the same events taking place.
Unless they have actually revisited their contracts. And I bet they havent. Because if they did it would have been an admission that the contracts were poorly written.
Though I would think over the next few weeks there will be some scrambling.
Sure, but it rarely ( if ever ) happens that way.
This whole storm in a teacup degenerated very rapidly. It never even made it to “discussion”.
Not only will there be scrambling at RA, the paper pushers at the AFL, NRL etc. will be double checking their dotted i's and crossed t's.
How do you reckon the AFL would react if Gary Ablett Jr went full Folau?
Don't think you're doing it intentionally, but you're shifting the goal posts here.
What he posted is (IMO) worthy of discussion. People reacting on inappropriate levels is a given in this day and age on both sides of any argument.
If something gets an inappropriate response doesn't mean level headed discussion should be given up on.
Same way I have no right to tell people to harden the f*** up and ignore Greta Thunberg and the Gillette ad, despite the fact there's been a significant amount of people who have been triggered and had a disproportionate reaction to.
Scotland, happy to concede that climate change could be a contributing factor with the recent bush fires but interestingly it's rarely been mentioned before during any of our annual 'bush fire seasons', including the 1951 fires when Queensland lost over 100 million acres, then we had 1967 Tasmania, 1974 W.A. etc. etc....?
I don't think I was shifting the goal posts at all, intentionally or not.
Neither involved party engaged in discussion at all, it quickly degenerated into utter intransigence from both INVOLVED parties. That was my point, the PARTIES didn't do any discussing.
The rest of us on the sidelines did the discussing. My position is that it's got bugger all to do with me and any discussion I have won't make a jot of difference to what happened between the 2 involved parties.
And FWIW I reckon you've got every right to vocalising your opinion on Greta Thunberg. She stuck her head up, same as Folau did.
It's not just entry to heaven, don't be ridiculous. It's employment, religious organisations can discriminate there, health care, aged care, education are also areas in which they are or will be discriminate. And they can do all this by saying I believe in god and it's definitely god here because when this government talks about religious freedom they mean good white people religions.
Based on what you've said, you're withdrawing you're original post of telling people to 'just ignore him'?
I have no issue with GT or Gillette at all, my point is I have no right to question people that do providing its a considered response.
Not at all, you really have to move on
It's a win for people who don't want to be discriminated against at work for their personal religious beliefs.
Not only will there be scrambling at RA, the paper pushers at the AFL, NRL etc. will be double checking their dotted i's and crossed t's.
How do you reckon the AFL would react if Gary Ablett Jr went full Folau?
Absolutely not re the withdrawal. I think ignoring this sort of dribble, from Folau or the outrage merchants, is the way to go. And I wasn't telling anyone to ignore him, I just thought that's what should've happened. FFS he didn't even abuse any of his targets, he just said he thought they were going to have bad things happen to them in an imaginary (IMO) place. It was all about RA protecting their sponsorship cash considering said donor's CEO's personal and very public utterances on most subjects to do with "homosexuality"
RA tipped fuel on a fire that very few people GAF about and cost themselves a very public humiliation. And probably a wad of cash too. To be fair to RA though they sure got put between a rock and a hard place by Folau on the one side and their sponsor on the other.
My only interest in this debate has been watching the self-righteous, self-appointed manipulators of opinion getting their noses out of joint. The argument between RA and Folau itself held no interest to me, after all I don't believe in "Insert Religious deity Head" and I don't GAF one way or another about homosexuality. Do what you want to do people, it won't change my life.
And it's "your" original etc.
Anyways, I've said my piece so that's me out.
He got himself 8 million dollars and he loves it but he did not prove in court that he was wronged - it did not get to court! Is that so hard to understand? So he didnt win? He has no right to speak his mind on religion issues?
Its interesting how the goal posts shift.
Hopefully his days of playing rugby of either code in Australia are over.
It seems that Rugby Australia thought that it was in it's best interests to settle the matter - Folau obviously did as well otherwise, he'd have said no thanks to Rugby Australia and gone for the whole 14 million plus expenses and most importantly, if you were to believe Folau, prove that he has the right to say whatever the f**k he want's to because he's a Christian.Christianity is homophobic, at least with this decision going Folau's way, we get to see the foibles of religion, and why it's outdated. This is better than trying to pretend it's not.
