The discount was originally intended as a reflection of the investment the club has made in the player to get them to that point.the discount is kind of stupid
the privilege of being able to match the bid is enough IMO
I would be happy enough if the NGA clubs start investing in their own academies in a similar way to Northern clubs. The discount was originally intended as a reflection of the investment the club has made in the player to get them to that point.
There's zero reason for father/sons to use the same discount. I'm kind of at a point where I'm ok to let go of the discount for the academies too - it adds up too quickly if you have multiple early bids and doesn't make much difference when you only have one.

Otherwise we are just going back to an NGA system where players just slide on in because a Great GrandFather is from oversees or something with no investment which is another thing they need to tighten up on NGA’s.
NGA should only be able to be signed to if the kid isn't already in one of the elite pathways.I would be happy enough if the NGA clubs start investing in their own academies in a similar way to Northern clubs.

Yeah the NGA process basically amounted to getting an ancestry dot com DNA analysis in some occasions. In fairness some voices (QAFL presidents/watchers who pop up in the academy thread) will tell you that the northern academies don't do nearly as much as I'd hope they do, and I have no inside knowledge about that.
I hope the Northern clubs have brought these things up during discussions.NGA should only be able to be signed to if the kid isn't already in one of the elite pathways.
I get that appears a bit hypocritical compared to our academy standards, but we don't have access to the same elite pathways to begin with.
Ben King said something interesting in an interview.

I wonder if our players' struggles with inaccuracy comes down to overthinking and/or a lack of consistency in routine.
with the way the points system works theres already an inbuilt discount.... everyone knows a bunch of junk picks doesnt equate to a top 5 pick but on the points system it does. think thats where it could still be argued we will be receiving a discount. The discount was originally intended as a reflection of the investment the club has made in the player to get them to that point.

On The Roar Deal Dom Fay was saying that he has never(or could be just a long time, can not recall) seen an away win live, dates back around 14-15 losses in a row.Got some tickets today for the Collingwood game in Round 23.
Making the trek back to Melbourne for that one.
Also got some tickets to the Adelaide game against Port in a couple of weeks.
Couple to look forward to to see if we can witness a win away from home.
I have seen wins at GC but that is it for me.On The Roar Deal Dom Fay was saying that he has never(or could be just a long time, can not recall) seen an away win live, dates back around 14-15 losses in a row.He is going down for this Friday nights game.
Seen wins at MCG, Etihad and PFS, been to Adelaide once v Port for a very close loss a couple of years before covid, can not remember what year.I have seen wins at GC but that is it for me.
The 2020 QF win at the Gabba v the eventual Premiers the Tigers was pretty special as well.I've been lucky enough to cross off a few. Docklands 2014 was the first, Gabba 2019, Sydney Showground 2020, Carrara and Bellerive Oval 2021, SCG, Manuka Oval, Adelaide Oval and the MCG (same Semi Final) in 2022, Mt Barker 2023.Seen wins at MCG, Etihad and PFS, been to Adelaide once v Port for a very close loss a couple of years before covid, can not remember what year.
2022 Semi Final win v the Demons at the G is right up there with the best/most enjoyable live games ever for me, topped off by the Jake Lever Jig.The 2020 QF win at the Gabba v the eventual Premiers the Tigers was pretty special as well.
I had a record of one live win total, home or away, in about 15 years (the win being the 2009 win at the SCG).On The Roar Deal Dom Fay was saying that he has never(or could be just a long time, can not recall) seen an away win live, dates back around 14-15 losses in a row.He is going down for this Friday nights game.

M52, there is a few still left in that bay, but yeah they are only offering tickets in the bottom level in only a few bays at this stage. What section? I can only see bottom level around the goals is that right?
I reckon they were all absolutely spot on. Credit to the umpires for having the courage to blow the whistle late in tight games after so many were critical of them for swallowing the whistle in similar situations earlier in the season.I reckon all three of todays games were impacted by BS frees late; Sicily bump, Yeo HTB and Mac Andrews rubbish free on King.
