Fourth Test team

I'm not averse to bringing guys like Burns, Handscomb, Maxwell and even Wade back into the fold. The UAE squad just seemed like such a reactionary shift and I don't think guys like Head and Laubaschagne have done anything to push ahead of these guys. I'm not convinced about Renshaw's form, but he's a solid prospect, so I'd probably lean towards...

Renshaw
Finch
Khawaja
Maxwell
S.Marsh
M.Marsh

with Burns, Handscomb, Head and Wade the alternatives.

Spots 7-11 write themselves.

Same as my team.

1. Finch
2. Khawaja
3. Renshaw
4. S Marsh
5. Maxwell
6. M Marsh
7. Paine
8. Cummins
9. Starc
10. Lyon
11. Hazlewood

I think Khawaja is a bit like JL. Better opener than number 3.

1. Renshaw (Pick and stick)
2. Finch
3. Khawaja
4. Ferguson (Had a massive winter)
5. Head
6. Maxwell

If they want to keep picking M Marsh a part of me can comprehend the rationale, though i can't see the point with S Marsh going forward. At the age of 35 he continues to be consistently inconsistent. Score a thousand runs on banal roads to be left found wanting in any kind of foreign conditions.

Awesome Shaun Marsh makes zero runs in his last 10 innings for his country and heads back to the pitch he grew up on; which isn't hosting a test match this summer and makes runs. Farken great. Stuck with this guy for the summer, probably fail against India early on, ton up in the 4th test, cash in against SL get picked for the Ashes and do SFA.

Australian cricket is in a funny state. No one is putting up their hand and demanding to be picked. Marsh is the best performer in this round of Shield games and offers experience. Will he cash in a bit on our roads? Sure, but we’re playing to win here. There’s enough free spots to blood some youngsters. My feel is this should be his swan song and he gives with to Smith’s return.

We’ll be talking about picking Shaun Marsh because we’re “playing to win” this time next year too.

And it will be just as stupid.

My rolling Test Team as it stands now

Harris
Renshaw
Khawaja
Patterson
Finch
Labuschagne
Paine
Starc
Cummins
Hazelwood
Lyon

Ooft. Harris has done well but dropping down Finchy after a good start? I'm not sure unless you push Renshaw to 1st drop.

My rolling test team is

Finch
Renshaw
Smarsh - I guess
Head
Labuschange
Mitch Marsh
Paine
Cummins
Starc
Lyon
Hazlewood
Tremain - 12th man.

I reckon though, Cartwright, Patterson and Wade are good chances. Harris is a chance if Renshaw continues to post low scores.

If you made me pick today, assuming Khawaja would be available:

Harris
Finch
Khawaja
SMarsh
Head
Maxwell

Everyone's going to have the same Keeper and bowling lineup I'd imagine.

Finch
Renshaw
Maxwell
Patterson
Head
Labuschagne
Paine
Cummins
Starc
Hazlewood
Lyon

It's time to move on from SMarsh, too old, no future. Patterson has been a consistent performer and struggles in T20 (a good sign for a test cricketer)

Head and Marnus are worth sticking with for now.

Your best player usually plays at 3, Maxwell is the best batsman in this side. (How far the Australian test cricket team has fallen)

If Khawaja is fine then you replace Head or Marnus.

And if Hazlewood or Cummins are injured for the love of god give Tremain a run.

In unrelated news, Tymal Mills has been called up by England after his efforts for Hobart.

Odd statement. The best cricketers can adapt to all formats.

You're just mad I omitted Marsh.

He's still been a consistent Shield performer.

And Tymal Mills is shit in every format.

They would probably play better cricket if they were steady on their feet.

Rolling Team:
Finch
Harris
Khawaja
Head
S. Marsh
Lehmann

Labuschange, Renshaw and M. Marsh (to be fair no innings since UAE, but still) have done nothing to really cement their spots in the side or the squad. Finch, Head and Khawaja have all cemented spots because of performances in the UAE, and now Shaun has as well with his 80 and 98. Lehmann and Harris the best two performing domestic batsmen available at this stage of the summer.

Harris scores one double century and he's automatically selected.

Harris doesn't even average 35 in first class cricket.

Think on that.

Why is every campaigner on this form so biased? We get it, you're from the state you were born in. It's not an achievement.

I'm a Queenslander. I want Tremain to play Test cricket. I want Maxwell back in the test team.

I'm not pushing for shitty Neser or inexperienced Doggett.

Most of you don't give a shit about the test team, you just want the people for YOUR state in the team. Time to grow up.

Since he moved to Victoria Harris has averaged over 40 each year and been a consistent hundred scorer.

He was picked pretty young over in WA and didn’t have the best temperament. It seems he’s found out what works for him now - it’s the right time to pick him.

To me the conundrum is who to bat at no.3 until Steve Smith returns? Shaun Marsh is far better suited to number four or five and Khawaja has done very well as an opener.

My guess as to the first Test team:

Khawaja (if not fit then Harris but he and Langer had a falling out when he left WA for Victoria so it may be an issue)
Finch
Head
S. Marsh
Maxwell
Labuschagne
Paine
Starc
Cummins
Hazlewood
Lyon

I think the majority of players deserve a second chance. You only have to look at India’s worleful away record to see Australia are one of many teams that struggle away from home.

Usman Khawaja is the most talented player in Australia at the moment, and usually the best batsmen bat at number 3. There seems to be plentiful openers to choose from at the moment (Not just Harris), so it seem common sense to bat him at three and work the openers out separately. Shaun Marsh, after his 80 and 98, is certainly another very talented batsman no matter what any one else says (not saying he is good batsman at Test Level, but certainly very talented) and does deserve a go with the absence of Smith and Warner. Labuschagne is not worth having in our team for his spin, unless he can prove himself in shield. With the batting quality of Cummins and the handy bowling that Head possesses, maybe we don't need an all-rounder at all.

Harris always had ability even in WA, but he is now finding more consistency. That average has been climbing pretty steadily since moving to Victoria.

lol Why do people think that's a thing?

Root bats at 4, Kohli bats at 4, Smith bats at 4, Tendulkar batted at 4, de Villiers didn't bat 3, Kallis, Lara, Ross Taylor, Pietersen, Miandad, Younus Khan, and Greg Chappell.

The whole No. 3 is a silly thing.
