I just want better gear to wear. The polo's and t-shirts are terrible, if they could find a manufacturer that could replicate the kind of apparel that NFL teams market we'd be selling heaps.
Sister came by today and seen us ordering a couple of NFL/NBA things and asked why are you getting overseas stuff and when you have bugger all Freo gear? Umm I'd love to but pretty much all the stuff the club has imo is crap..

Just curious, what don't you like? The design? The quality? Or the cost?

Designs mostly ordinary at best and the clothes poor quality. Don't mind paying a fair bit for stuff but if you are gonna a charge a lot it's also a bit much to have to have it covered with sponsors.

Fair enough.

I guess the designs are fairly conservative or crowd pleasing.

I don't own many items just a polo and a hoodie but Ive found the quality to be very good.

I do however agree with you on the price, even with my view on the quality they're priced to the maximum of what you'd expect for the quality. Having said that, the club needs to make a profit and we as supporters love it if our club is financially successful so we shouldn't complain.

^This. Surely all they have to do is look at the myriad of quality PRO or Collegiate gear in the US to get some pretty simple and attractive options going.

Australian Rules is a unique game and uniquely Australian. We don't want everyone going to the games looking like yankee Basketball or Baseball fans.

I somewhat disagree.

So what that its a unique game at the end of the day merchandise is primarily a revenue stream for the clubs, if they get their design right they will make more $$$. Its simple business really.

I will say though I think clubs (ours in particular) have stepped up their game a little in previous years in hitting a younger / more stylish demographic.

NEW ERA Snapback hats
NEW ERA Beanies
ISC Basketball Singlets
Retro Hoodies
Collegiate Hooded Jackets

These products in particular are showing that the club is keeping up a little more and are getting some new / better content.

Totally agree regarding the business side of things so suiting every demographic is important providing it'll sell. If what some of the youngsters want is to follow the American look then I guess that's what the club has to do, but I for one am glad they haven't gone all the way and totally followed the American look. We need to have our own identity rather than copying someone elses.

Re your examples of stylish apparel, I guess you and I have a totally different definition of stylish. I certainly don't find snapback caps and basketball singlets to be stylish.

I'm mid 20's and have followed NFL and NBA my entire life so items that have a certain SWAG appeal to me.

The quality and design leaves a lot to be desired. It's not a US vs Australian debate, apparel is simply better in the US because they are more practiced at it. The fact that they have a basketball jersey is appalling let alone the design.
I think the companies here get away with making cheap stuff.

It's not necessarily that they are more practised at it, it's just they can throw more money at designers . Don't be fooled by it though, there are numerous hideous designs in American sport but there are just so many teams it's easier to find something you like. You'll also find many people have clothes from more than one team, same sport, meaning it's more about the fashion than passion.

I'd rather people Wear a Freo singlet (basketball style) to a game of AFL than a Miami Heat or Cavs jersey. Insert Golden State Warriors for the 2016 season.

I went to the Freo store ready to drop $200-$300 (1 maybe two pieces) on some clothes and walked out empty handed. The polos are the only thing I can bring myself to buy but as mentioned above, sponsor logos?????

The on field stuff is supposed to be just that - the same stuff the players and coaches wear, which includes sponsors. You won't see many sponsor logos on US merchandise because they don't wear them on their uniforms or on their official casual stuff.
Go to Europe and it's the opposite - the sponsor logos are an integral part of the uniform. Here it's somewhere in the middle, at least in the AFL. In the NRL the players are walking billboards.

I'm fine with advertising on players jumpers you buy but not stuff like polos that you may want to wear casually. And googling it looks like Premier League teams apart from the clothing manufacturer itself don't have any advertising of companies on their supporter shirts at all.

On my Melbourne Stars shirt, the advertising is bigger than the Stars logo, so you look like a Dick Smith employee, not a BBL fan.

The one I got a few years ago is purple with just the monogram, no shield around.
Much prefer that to what they have now, but would have thought they could do the caps in a variety of colours, a bit like the training jumpers and the yankee caps.
White with a purple monogram could look pretty cool.
