I can't help but feel that this group is special........very special!

While we all rightly rave on about Tippett, Walker, Dangerfield et al, one plyer that doesn't quite get the same amount of attention as these lads is Mackay. He is a bloody good footballer! Seriously good! One of those player that knows what type of kick is needed in every situations. He MAKES players lead to the right spots and only great players do that. As much as I love Dangerfield and Otten, IMHO Mackay is on par with them in terms of talent. Clean as a whistle. Absolutly LOVE him!

don't agree. as good as these guys are (and they are VERY good) Danger is on another level. Tippett could be too.

Mackay could be our Simon Black, but as good as he was he was no Voss (Danger).

I'd be quite happy with that. Mackay and Danger are different kinds of players, Danger the pack busting speedster and Mackay with the silky skills. Just part of our new gun group which, in agreement with Stiffy18, has that special feel about it.

this team should shut up shop and sell its license to Tasmania.

Its always has and always will be a basket case.

Still think we could trade McLeod in a year or two for Pavlich, thats the level of respect I have for their intelligence.

Wait for McLeod to announce his retirement and trade him for Hill.;)

Mackay is developing into the player we (I) thought Reilly was going to be.

I very rarely get carried away with a performance like we had last night against probably the worst side ever to play AFL on footy park.

But that first half left me stunned & lost for words.

Stiffy in career best form & should make AA if he keeps it up.

Craigy will need to get our feet back on the ground by monday if we are to have any chance at all to threaten the Saints this week.

By Monday??? Craigy'll be doing that at recovery this morning!

A terrific win by the boys - finally showed that killer instinct everyone's been asking for. Fremantle were pathetic. The next month of footy will be very, very interesting.

Sunday is a day of rest my dear girl :)

I realise Freo were depleted in numbers but Adelaide were HOT with intensity.

We invented a new product last night on the back of a another record.

Not for the team. The day after every game they have a recovery session. Mind you, last week they went to Wet and Wild for their recovery session! :p When they played in Brisbane in May they went to the Bronco's for recovery.

Black and Voss both top tier players however different types of players, you cant argue with Black's Brownlow and Norm Smith medals and Im sure if D-Mac does the same we will all be very very happy

Dangerfield and Tippett exhibit some truly elite qualities, their game was a fantastic demonstration of the value of a contested ball. As much as this game may be written off as a contest with a sub-AFL quality team, the amount of contested ball won by these two was simply astounding. Not only did they demonstrate the capacity to do so, but they broke the pscyhological back of their opposition by doing so and the rest of the team lifted with them. There are definitely some rough edges to both players, but in a short amount of time we've seen both of them improve a great deal.

Whilst Mackay doesn't have that game-breaking excitement factor, I still think he is Brownlow material. His disposal, ball-handling, poise and read of the play is simply sublime. He's also added clearances and contested ball to his game this year, which is promising for his size. As others mentioned he doesn't back himself enough yet, can appear hesitant. Another pre-season and a few more games he'll grow and grow in confidence.

I still think Sellar doesn't have the tools to make it as a full-time ruckman at AFL level, especially considering his opposition last night. However, he has dramatically lifted his intensity and I think he could offer something as a key back. He looked lost as a forward, but I would be patient with that as well.

Vince, ST, Porplyzia, Bock, Johncock and pretty much everyone else :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

No doubt they are different types of players but Mackay is a sublime, class act. He is no Danger but he is an exceptional player in his own right. If he turns out to be as good as Black I don't think there would be anyone who would be complaining.

As I said earlier in the year in 2 years time Danger will be top 2-3 players in the comp (if not the best) but Mackay is a bloody beauty as well.

16 hours later and it still feels GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.

All the props for MacKay are all well deserved.

His run down the wing when he got shepparded by Jim, then kicked, got it back and kicked almost at right angles to hit Tippett in stride.

Wow.

And thats what I mean when I say that Mackay knows what type of kick is needed in certain situations and he makes players lead to the right spot but kicking it there. He knows if the leading player is expecting it there or not and if the player is not expecting it to go there, Mackay will pull of a perfectly weighted kick that gives the player time to lead there.

Watching Mackay this season has been a real pleasure. If I was a forward and I see Mackay with the ball running towards our forward 50 my eyes would light up like a christmas tree.

The difficulty of that kick as well.

That's not only vision (also see Bernards kick to Tippett, that's vision, he's done that twice now), but a high high high degree of skill.

To not only rip the kick around your body when moving at pace, but to hit the lead in stride, AFTER running down the entire wing.

Was fantastic, all I could do was smile.

Johncock: He is in fantastic nik, he's zipping in and out, running around like a whirling dervish. He reads the ball great in the air and provides timely spoils to his run. Very good game.
Rutten: Some small Freo guy was about to tackle him and he gave them the reverse spin, how does he have so much time with the ball? Solid as ever.
Otten: What a first half. I think it was in the 3rd or 4th when he release someone, who found Bernard on the wing and at the top of the screen you see Otten absolutely streaming through the middle, running his guts out. He eventually got it back and kicked into the 50 for a mark. He's gonna be one of those no flash all fantastic consistant players, like a mix between Edwards and Stevens.
Goodwin: I thought he was a little quiet at one point, only then to see the possesion count, how does he do that? He fits very well in the HBF role in our current structure and provides very good decision making and a booming kick to get over zones. Good to have him back.
Bock: AA CHB, I'm sure as he's burning through the middle he's yelling in a Jim Carey voice :somebody stop me!"
Doughty: Does he thriw his body for the team or what. That play where he tapped it onto Bock, resulting in a goal summed up what Dogga is about; the team.
van Berlo: Flourishing in that defensive mid/half back role. as he runs all day it opens up space and draws people out of their zone possy.
Thompson: B&F most likely between him and Bock and Edwards. He is just so consistant this year. Gets the hard stuff and gives to the runners. Kick to the porp lead on the left gave me the tingles.
Symes: I can't help but love him because of how he plays. Throws his body at the ball, tackles ferociously and spoils well. He's like our Max Rooke only with less tach.
Knights: Now he's copping hard attention. And to his credit he works bloody hard to try and shake it. He was moving everywhere yesterday and save some poor set shots, he would have had another 5.
Stevens: Fantastic pull down on Tarrant to open up the Porp haha. He is once again just doing as he's told. Great forward pressure and a deadly set shot. Good experience balance up forward.
Mackay: Well he is just fantastic. Ran himself so hard, yet we're already up by 80 and he's dry reaching after a full ground length run. Fantastic ball user and I can't help but think he's Edwards with hair.
Porplyzia: Great mark running back with the flight. Uncharictaristically missed two set shots, but wa in such good touch he found enough opportunities to bag 5. Soo clean and smooth.
Tippett: Each time he smiles while in the yellow blue and red, so do I. Looking happy and bar a couple of wayward set shots (wasn't alone) he was again a star. Please don't put him in the ruck, he's too good forward.
Edwards: Queit on for Zooma, but he copped a good Ibbotson tag. He'll be back as i'm not sure if he's ever had 2 quiet games in a row.
Maric: Improved throughout. Did well to make sure he had a body on their rucks and did anyone else love his 50 meter lace out pass?
Dangerfield: All been said. Roo with speed. Jizzing in pants etc, all happening. Was the best I've seen him play. :D sums it up.
Vince: Great game Bernanrd. Beautiful vision, long kicks, running, everything.
Reilly: Started slowly, but having to play a more defensive roll he layed enough tackles. Can be a touch slow at times but hopefully it's just a little rust. Love his kicking.
McLeod: Back in some beautiful touch. Very impressive.
Sellar: Thought his ruck work both in the center and around the grounds was very good. Was makign sure Clarke couldn't get a run at it and used his body well. I see him being a good player, the running down the ground was good. Best thing for Jim is to continue playing ruck until Moran comes back.
Shirley: Thought he was OK, did a couple of really nice things, but probably first in line through default if anyone goes. Can't question his work rate.

The only stats that the crows didnt win last night were the clangers and the FREE's. Amazing.

What a brilliant win by us, even if it is Fremantle, to keep any team to 1.7 for the whole match is somewhat of a great achievement and the 3rd time we've kept a team goalless to half time.

I honestly would've been happy with an 80 point win, but 117 points is fantastic, our percentage isn't far off that of Collingwood if I'm correct. Very, very impressed with our young guns who just keep on getting better, we really put on a clinic last night, and boy was it entertaining to watch. :thumbsu:

If I ramble on anymore it'll probably turn into a book length post. In conclusion, brilliant win.

I agree. I think Mackay will be the Tyson Edwards to Patrick Dangerfield's Mark Ricciuto.

Both great players who we love to bits, but gun to your head you'd definitely be able to make a choice between the two.

Dangerfield and Roo, I can see why they compare the two, but Mckay and Edwards? not even close.

No disrespect to Tyson, but I wouldn't even need to think about who I would pick out of himself and Roo, Roo everyday day of the week for me.
