I was thinking 26 points but I see the bombres demolished them by 50 points a fortnight ago. Maybe 32 points then.

Port can play at a level above what they've shown in recent weeks, but their poor days are really poor and if they bring one of those we should win by 10+ goals. I don't think they will though. Weakish teams have lifted against us a few times through the year and I think Port will do it too. We should still be good enough to get the win though.

I say Freo in a tough game by ~5 goals.

Port do seem to apply good pressure when they play us, however I look at their side and they have too many 'defensive' minded players. Cornes, Logan, Thomas, Cassisi and in turn they rely on having those players provide go forward as well. Imagine if we had 4 Crowley's in our side and relied on him to move the ball efficiently?

As Lyon says 'if we bring effort and discipline' we'll handle these guys easily.

Been their only decent victory in the last 3 weeks, punctuating two 11+ goal lossess which says a bit about Port IMO who will be rooted after returning from Darwin whilst we had a comfortable Sunday stroll last weekend. All signs point to a comfortable win.

The Bombres are gone, no doubt. We will take their spot in the 8 thank you very much. I would tip us by more but after travelling to the Gold Coast earlier in the year it will take more than a 95 point win over GWS to change my mind. 26 points.

Note: Add to that the game I saw against Melbourne a few years ago in Melbourne. You know the one! But relax I am in Perth at the moment.

Nope, the only way we get in the 8 is by winning . 4 points is the important thing. Percentage may come in to calculations. Richmond losing to GC defined their whole season. You cannot afford to lose to teams that are nor contenders.

Ideally we win by 60+ and get close to North's percentage, but watching games closely lately I am changing opinion. Just keep players on the park and keep winning. As Ross stated, if we win every game we make the 8. I interpret as such, :

if we scrape in to the 8 on percentage we are not going to have an impact.

There is no point playing finals if you are not capable of beating teams in the finals system.

Finals should not be the goal from here. It should be to win every match going in to the finals. If we lose more than 2 games then F it, we won't trouble anyone so best the team have an early holiday and start to think about if they are capable of winning a premiership

Finals are definately a goal, but becoming a contender is better. I think we have a list that can contend. We should aim for it now.

i don't agree with this. ross will have long term goals that mean players taste the experience of finals footy. the hype, the pressure, the expectations, the stakes. you can't earn that experience without playing finals footy.

i think ross is already thinking along these lines. he seems really reluctant to bring in players like neale, dawson, faulks, who are either banging on the door or have been best 22 earlier in the season, for the sake of team stability. that says to me that he wants to settle the team as much as possible as we head down the straight.

Not arguing with your comments. But...

Remember the Essendon win when we stood around chearing. It was a fantastic moment, but that bit of history will never take place again for Freo. I was trying to allude to the point - I believe our team is capable on taking on all teams bar Hawks. We should not be just aiming for the 8. We should aim to win all games. I see most teams with similar lists age wise/ relation to capability

I get tired of finals experience talk. Truth is we should be higher on the ladder now. I think the Saints, Carlton, Richmong, Geelomg and North should be too. I think all of these teams think they are under achieving and will continue to upset. I think WCE, Dons, Sydney, Adelaide and even Collingwood have over achieved. It is pretty even.

The main thing against our team is belief.

i think we're about where we should be given the work we've done this year and what we have ahead of us. the main thing is about belief, but that needs to be built on teamwork and preparation that's lead by the coaches box on game day. in his recent interviews, ross has been saying that it doesn't matter about percentage or what the other teams around us are doing if we get the wins, so he's already onboard. i don't know why you think we're not aiming for finals footy when everything about the club at the moment is gearing towards it. i agree, all the stuff about what the saints, dons, blues, cats and north is doing is interesting but it doesn't matter squat as we should be aiming to win the next six games. i'm pretty confident that's where the club is at.
