How many players do we have that are genuine goal threats with the man on the Mark 45 out?

We never seem to be a chance of scoring until the ball is <35 out. Would be great to have a few long bombers to expand our area of threat.

On the top of my head from todays side:

Waite, Levi, Scotto, Garlett, Touhy, Kruezer, Yarran, Joseph

Not gonna count Levi, coz he isn't a threat from 10.
Waite - barely
Touchy/Yaaran/Scotland - yep but half backs
Garlett - disagree
Krueger - only on the run
Joseph - yep

So many teams are dangerous from 0-60, sometimes it looks like our blokes are never confident to shoot until its 20 closer.

Russell, Gibbs, Judd, Buckley, Kreuzer, Watson, Warnock, Robinson, Rowe?, O'Keeffe, Bootsma, Hampson (has done it before), Mitchell, Bell, Waite, Thornton (again, has done it before), Garlett certainly on the run, Jamo although unlikely and Tuohy.

To Levi

Rule #1 - Don't run too close to the man on the mark !

Schoolboy error and can't believe how many AFL players make this mistake.

Ellard can dob them from 50 too. .. and Simmo (esp. on the run)

Gibbs & Tuohy are about the only reliable ones, the MC prefers them in the back-pockets.

yep, most of our long kicks seem to play the other half of the ground. What's concerning is the number of our players kicking from 50 who clearly have no confidence and end up doing some dinky stupid pass that doesn't come off and leads to a direct interception, a turnover or another player kicking from a spot which is at least as difficult. In those circumstances I'd rather we just stick Kruezer, Waite and Cazzy in the goalsquare and tell them to set sail for home. Honestly, it would come off more.

Agree!! The amount of times we have players 45-55m out and do stupid things resulting in turnovers is ridiculous.. Especially considering even a point would allow us to set up alot better then a direct turnover. On that note, our defensive set up from kick ins was soo much better the first few games then it currently is.

What was Tuohy's story today? Bomb a torpedo into the centre square to be marked by a Swan?

Get Watson in - he can do the kick ins AND roost goals from 60m out! :D

Was a great kick, too bad it carried a little too far and meant Eddie was under it instead of crumbing Kreuze. ..

Tuohy did at least 2 torpedos, I think one went to a contest and the other was a Sydney mark.

Not a high % kick from the goalsquare but I do reminisce about a besleeved Braddles on a wet winter's day at Princes Park.

Tuohy funnily enough is the one I have the most faith in to reliably roost one from 50 or beyond. Just a pity he still isn't right :(

Judd when he has his goal kicking boots on seems surprisingly capable. God I miss that bloke.

We do have probably the same amount of players who can kick the ball 50-55m as most teams.. it's just whether it's confidence or "team-rules" that the players don't take the shot is the question. In the past Fevola was probably the only player given license to always have a shot from 50m+, now it's all about looking for a team-mate in a better position except our short kicking and decision making to that team-mate in a better position is not as good as it should be.
