Section 5.2, page 10. Given Priestley is 'detested by the majority of the supporter base', I'm sure you'll have no problems getting the 100 member signatures to call an extraordinary general meeting and call for a board spill. You are a member, right? Otherwise, you can wait till the AGM in Aug/Sep to cast your vote.

Whilst you're reading, also have a look at section 9.8 on p21 which explains how the current board were able to fill the two casual vacancies left by the departures of Sayers and Lincoln.

I'll also point out that none of the existing board members have been in the position for more than 6 years, and most 4 years or less, so not sure how you can argue that the current board has 'delivered 25 years of failure'.

Good luck with it, will be interested to see how you go.

That won't work... last time people tried to call for an EGM, Sayers lawyered up and stopped them...

Members can call an EGM. Problem is there is no viable alternative. I have nothing against the current President, has been in the role two minutes. I do think it should be a Melbourne based position.

As an aside, how are mods chosen? I’m assuming Admin ruling with an iron fist? Are they paid positions? Guessing no polls on their performance 😂😂😂. Though if this Michael chap would like to live dangerously…

We are grown underground like Orcs. No monetary compensation, but we feed off the tears of those we persecute.

That is the greatest democratic smoke screen I have ever read.....what did sayers do last time the board was challenged?

I wondered what the view of the club would be towards social media channels such as blue abroad (probably the largest reach).
Terry stated that he/his channel are seen as competitors to the club whether from a content perspective or messaging platform is unclear.
In my simple naive position I thought it strange but I can see that the hierarchy may consider it a threat to the status quo to have a “grassroots” capacity to influence board elections and promote change.
I was very sad to hear that Fitzpatrick may have been approached and that was torpedoed by current board members.
Not that I would have any clue about who/what would make a good president but it seemed like perfect timing for him to take up a role on the board/at the club.

Yeah I call BS on that... why was Patty involved with coach selection then?
Not BS. We didn’t have a CEO when we last needed to find a coach.
Most clubs establish a panel to recruit a coach - the CEO is usually responsible for pulling it together, supported by the board.
I’m sure you will recall Cook having to sign off on the appointment in his first week.
Typical of Carlton we set parameters around the coach recruitment process that would have never occurred if Cook had led the process from the start.
Last thing … Patty K is better qualified to select the coach than any of our other board directors. Been successful in both football and leading major organisations.

Patty is not more qualified than Diesel... sorry.

Patty is not more qualified than Diesel... sorry.

Her major organisation is under fire from Jacinta Price...

Who isn't under attack from Jacinta Price?

Our Watch tells media organisations not to have a default position of violence being a part of Aboriginal Culture, which is a reasonable default position to start with. Price has experienced domestic violence personally so doesn't agree.

It's hardly a scandal.

To get this off politics and bring it back to football, I agree that Patty is not qualified to appoint anyone based on football knowledge, but possibly based on communication and teaching style.

Diesel knows the footy world, but it is completely outdated, and no longer has the ability to discern modern footy requirements and communication styles IMO. If he is helping anyone with his footy knowledge, it's certainly not publicised.

I see someone like Ian Prendergast as being a good football director candidate. He is a general counsel and commercial officer right now, so isn't leaving a paid position for a voluntary position, but he'd be great as a conduit between the playing base and management. We do want people to stay in their lane, but this seems like he's in another lane, while he could easily diversify and offer something in this lane as well.

Well my point anyway was, people shouldn't make claims that the board isn't part of coach selection when it clearly was...

Yep agreed.

Yes. What’s your problem with her - that a woman couldn’t possibly know more about footy than a man?

What's your problem?

Why are you trying to turn your weak statement into some political crap?

Patty was involved in coach selection - fact.
She is on our board - fact.
She is not and was not our CEO - fact.
Diesel is more qualified - fact.

Sorry you got called out on your lie... maybe next time don't tell them...

A lie? What are you on about?

You bought gender (Kinnersly) and race (Price??) into the conversation to try to justify your stance … and now stating “facts” that I’ve not debated?

Very odd.

No, you attached gender and race to it for one reason... you know you don't have a leg to stand on because you're wrong.

You have stated that the board only appointed the CEO... a lie...

Then you said Patty was the most qualified (including bringing up her Our Watch success which has absolutely nothing to do with selecting a coach) when she obviously wasn't... so another lie...

My problem with her is, she should have stayed in her lane, had no business getting involved with coach selection...

But yeah, bring up race and gender because your weak statements don't add up...

I never mentioned Kinnersly or Price. You did in a pathetic attempt to denigrate based on gender and race.

And my original statement stands and is fact, no matter how you try to spin it.

The board employs one person, the CEO. Cook signed Voss’ contract.

Horse shit... never said anything about gender or race... like I said your weak statements have been called out. One more time with the false accusation and I report your post.

Cook signed his contract, so what? Did Cook appoint Voss without any say from the board? Yes or no, let's see if you can answer that honestly...

You deliberately brought Kinnerlsy and Price (bizarre!) into the conversation where there was absolutely no relevance … yet here you are continuing to defend your blatant sexism.
I never said the board is not involved or consulted … show me where I did?

Excuse the intrusion and I agree it is not a scandal. Violence is very much a part of many Aboriginal communities but there are also many Aboriginal communities and people that violence is not part of their culture.
Are they just talking about the default position, not the conclusion once the facts are known?
