Amelie Mauresmo had a similar experience on a wrong video decision which is referred to in the same article. Federer has made his feeling on the technology known on several occasions since, he just doesn't trust it. He uses the technology as often as anyone however, and his success rate on challenges is very low.

Regarding Gayle, unless I'm mistaken, he never disputed the final decision that he was out, but like Federer, contends that the technology is not infallible, and merely justified his decision to challenge by rationalising that
