Did you forget Matt crouch? Pretty much the worst call on here apart from Marty. Maybe even line ball with Marty given how staunch you were. You still think you can pick em over the majority?

I don't think anyone's calling Milera a world beater. Definitely not better than Rioli. But he's definitely improved on last year.
Milera is developing very nicely. He is taking the game on more and his intensity has improved massivly. He will be a star.

Actually not sure that’s true. I remember a few in our grand finals that had worse stats. ;)

Did any player in our grand finals manage just 2 touches from 83% time on ground?

Being merely a bench warmer isn't bad enough to qualify for the 'worst ever game'. If you're not on the ground, you can't have a negative impact ;)

Tonight must be a turning point or a line in the sand for this club.
Build the club around laird, smith, mcgovern, doedee, gallucci, knight, mcrouch, brown, milera, himmelberg, fogarty, davis, keath, mcpherson and murphy. Throw in 6 picks in the top 30 and a free agent or two and the top 8 is in sight next year. Do nothing and we will finish bottom 6 next year.

Lairdy, Seed, Doedee, Sloane and Jnr good
Tahlia looked like he was on fire then got hurt but battled on.
I thought Cheney and Gibbs were alright

I still can't believe this is almost the same team as the last 3 years.
Where was the run with and without the ball. The fitness of this group have evaporated.

Pyke keeps trying to get them to play the high press but they just can't sustain the pressure and we get opened up.
we don't run the ball anymore, we just handpass to another stationary player until somebody gets enough room to slam it on the boot.
And it's not because of Richmonds pressure, Freo did it to us, Hawks too. We had 45 inside 50's for the game...45! that is shit!
Laird, Jnr and Doedee were the only ones to try and run it out to space. Can't wait for Smith.

Oh well..what did we expect? we played one decent 1/4 in 6 weeks.

Lets hope the draft bounty include some SA guns, esp Rankine.
And lets hope Burton and Co are shown the door at years end (next week would be fine)
oh and Hampton too, seeya!

Without Betts...We took Cameron, he changed our whole team, every club has tried to recruit a Charlie type player ever since. The naysayers last year were bereft of a brain. Cameron, Lever and McGovern are why we made the GF. Because they are the point of difference to the Crowbots. Now we are just back to our old Neil Craig ways. Too slow, too conservative and FFS give me a defender with a bit of class (hello Brodie). Not our year people.

Evidenced by Lynch kicking sideways with less than a minute to go in the first half and Talia going sideways with less than 2 mins to go in the game. Both kicks resulted in turnovers. Not taking the game on. Our coaching and list management is a bit cooked at the moment. Need far better direction, but where from?

Good: like it or not, we were in the game at 3 qtr time in a game we had no right to be in.

The first 20 minutes was outstanding, our skills were good, we soaked up a lot of pressure and I reckon thats what allowed us to have, albeit unfulfilled, a chance to win the game going into the last.

Sloane battled hard, Laird battled hard.

Bad:

There was a lot. Milera has very, very low intelligence on the field. He makes mistakes on the weekly - im stunned at how little this is discussed onthis board - perhaps we can see his raw talent and youth. But the problem is footy IQ isnt necessarly an easily taught attribute so if you dont have it, it can eat up your career (he doesnt have the build to be an enforcer).

Our fitness is horrid - i get it, injuries. But we got run off the park. The Tigers were sublime to watch with their run.

Umpiring was flipping bad - god when is the AFC going to grow some balls and put a compilation together of shit calls and non-calls. Oh wait, never.

Ugly

Poholke needs a lot of work. Looks lost. Too slow. Go back to the SANFL.

Fogarty - for all of his promise as a bull KPF - he offers **** all else.

In fact, our forward line is horrendous - we had only accumulated 1 mark inside 50 for an awful while before getti ng our second. Meanwhile, up the other end Jack and co were bagging them left right and centre.

Jenkins kicks goals and so should hold his spot - he gets in the possies to kick them. We dont drop him until he dries up but **** me, does he ever look like taking a contested mark? No.

Tex was about 3 on 1 all night so didnt have much chop but what pissed me off about his game was the following:

- he goes the body which is great 1v1, but flipping useless 1v 2 or 1v3 - he needs to just bring it to ground.

- he is as good as any for a captains goal, but becomes so undisciplined sometimes, gave away a needless free as Richmond were rebounding. Needs to be better.

In fairness to our forwards their arms were being held the whole night but its chicken and the egg type stuff.

And thats the other thing - Richmond constantly had extra numbers around the fall of the ball. The amount of free players they had tonight was astounding - their 3 free players means we have 3 free players - nowhere to be seen.

How poor was our entry into fwd 50 though? Midfielders just wanted to overuse it instead of pumping it in long - never had a chance of a 1 out contest because we were so slow. Then came the inevitable turnover.

We were just poor all over tonight, although we showed glimpses and patches - what hurts the most though is going from 16 pts to 50.

Our team is far too slow. Far too scared of our own shadow and what really sucks is instead of coming with something different tonight, Pyke just showed the same old hand.

.

Ugly

Tex - Love him, but seriously WTF! Played injured? What other possible reason for being so insipid?
.

Nope. This has been Tex for years now.

Why people on here think he's Buddy I'll never know.

Yes he's a smart footballer, but he's also incredibly soft, and dumb at times too.

Has the best leg outside 50 in the game, but his hand are garbage, as well as his contested marking.

Bullshit.

Clean out the fitness and conditioning department and employ some professionals in this area and this season can be turned around quickly.

Don’t forget the -13 meters gained! Seriously, do you know how hard it is to get -13 meters gained from 83%TOG? It’s virtually impossible

The main reason(s) we were pathetic again today was the same (two) reasons we shithoused it in the grand final.

1.) Taylor Walker
2.) Josh Jenkins

Such a complete and utter level of apathy applied to making any serious attempt to even contest, let alone hold a ******* mark under pressure, I cannot believe I just witnessed given the history of this clash.

A stunning obvious and completely embarrassing, 100% total absence of any meaningful second effort, replaced instead by hands on hips while they sat back and watched the ball zing back over the heads of our midfield and defense, who inevitably ran out of gas and were once again demolished.

Staggeringly appalling game from two people whom we just can't afford to carry in the same forward line any longer. Playing Hampton up there as a defensive forward only for him to go missing, only highlighted how poor an effort those two provided when he couldn't do the job he was given and just cover up for their total lack of anything that could be classified as 'trying'.

I begin to seriously doubt whether they even are embarrassed by it anymore. Hopefully the Richmond theme brainwashing from earlier in the year triggers some kind of deep-seated Clockwork Orange style mental switch in their heads and they start to care again.
This is so far off the mark it’s funny.
We were killed by their smalls from full back to half forward, and kept kicking long to two or three on ones.
On top of that, our smalls did not get there to clean up those contests at ground level.
Tex wasn’t great but none of that was his fault.

I reckon he ran 10+km for those 2 touches too. So worse than Atkins 16km for 12 touches a few weeks ago or whatever it was

I’m praying the media rumours are about the wrong McGovern and Jeremy desperately wants to live in Adelaide to play with his brother.

We badly need an upgrade on Hartigan.
McGovern to Freo, Brennan Cox to Adelaide with pick adjustments.
