We jumped on the back of 3 men in yellow tonight, and any time that happens you'll cop it from the nuetrals.

You also need to factor in jelousy and the stupid (e.g those who think Selwood ducks).

I understand the dislike of Geelong, but if you don't respect the team, your opinion doesn't deserve any respect.

Most footy fans?

A premiership medal doesn't make you a better player than others who haven't won flags.
Agreed

He doesn't duck. It's that bullshit lifting of his arm so the tackle that lands legally slips high that pisses me off. It should be play on.

We're not even in the top 3 in the free kick count. Big Footy overreaction at it's best.

I wonder if you say the same about Pendles? Same action as Selwood.

Pendles has actually brought it into his game since around 2012, when he realised what Selwood was doing. I hate it everytime I see Pendles do it, and I don't think he deserves a free for it. Neither does Selwood. If first contact is made to the shoulder and then he brushes the tackle into his head, it's not high, it's playing for a free kick and it shouldn't be rewarded. Now, I believe that Selwood would keep doing it anyway, because it seems to be his evading technique, which is fair enough, as long as he doesn't get a free when it happens. For a guy as tough and as brilliant as he is, the wider footy public are beginning to dislike him because of this tactic. Would be great if the AFL came out and said they wont be getting frees for it anymore, but then again, people in charge of the AFL listen more to Darcy, BT, RIcho and Harley than they do the common supporter.

Get the ball first get the first opportunity at a free kick.
I realise there is a little bit of gamesmanship at times by our players thats just experience like Bartel today, make sure he got down low when he picked the ball up Freo player took him head high. He didn't lead with his head just make sure he put himself in a good position for the Freo player to make a mistake and he did.

That's just not true. Bartel moved into the tackle. That was a classic duck and did not deserve a free kick.

If anything Freo got the rub of the green with the umps anyway. Sandi takes on 3 blokes who lay good tackles yet the umps give him a shot at goal. Then Selwood gets pushed to the ground off the ball so the umps give Freo another free shot at goal. Then their first goal was a blatant throw from Fyfe. Fremantle got more dodgy free kicks in that first quarter than Geelong got for the match.

I needed that laugh.

It's staggering how many complain about Selwood, yet you never hear them complain about their players inability to tackle properly:rolleyes:

So if a tackle 'lands legally', but then slips down to become a trip, a free kick shouldn't be paid for that?

Why? I just don't get this at all. Learn to tackle. Rioli can do it... why can't everybody else. Same as if in the course of breaking a tackle a player moves his hips and forces the tackler low. Free kick for tripping.
