The SCG is probably our best interstate ground when you look at our win/loss record on the other grounds, the GABBA, Football Park, Manuka, the WACA and Subiaco Oval.
We play alright in Perth, although we don't win as many as we like over there, we still have played some good football over there. I think our early years when we had to play WCE over there has dampened, what otherwise, would be a pretty good looking statistics.

The GABBA isn’t a happy hunting ground. We've only won there twice!

Football Park, well at the end of 2000 we thought we may have shaken off our hoodoo there, with 2 wins, 1 draw and a loss from our previous 4 games. We also won a pre-season game over there in 1997... clutching at staws now! :p That's been the only bright light in our sad history playing in Adelaide however. Been close sometimes, but never been able to win. Never bring back 1997 Semi! :(

Manuka, well, you can't look much into that. One game, one loss. We were not out of the game until mid last quarter where we did our expected fade out.

The 2004 AFL fixture will see Geelong host eight games at Skilled Stadium and make five interstate trips. The draw, announced on Wednesday, has the Cats playing St Kilda, Richmond, Carlton, Sydney, Fremantle, Adelaide and Hawthorn twice and all other teams once.

Geelong open the 2004 campaign against St Kilda at night in the Telstra Dome on Saturday 27 March. The Cats first home game is against Richmond in round four at Telstra Dome while the first game at Skilled Stadium is in round six against Adelaide. The late start at Skilled Stadium is the result of the ground redevelopment.

Geelong chief executive Brian Cook said that on the whole, the club was comfortable with the fixture.

“Overall the Geelong Football Club is comfortable with the draw we have received,” Cook said.

“The AFL has attempted to meet the majority of the requests we put to them. We are pleased to again have eight home games at Skilled Stadium and three at Telstra Dome, however we would have preferred more home games on Saturday afternoons. We will be seeking more Saturday home games in 2005. Our supporters want more Saturday games and we will continue to seek these. The AFL understood our need not to play at Skilled Stadium prior to round six due to the redevelopment of the stadium.

“The club’s main concern from an on-field perspective is the short break between our round 14 game in Perth on a Saturday night and the round 15 match against Collingwood on a Friday night. On the whole we feel that draw is a 7/10 for Geelong.”

Geelong will play one game on Friday night, four on Saturday afternoon, five on Saturday night, 11 on Sunday afternoon and one at twilight on Sunday. The Cats will travel to Perth twice, Adelaide twice and Sydney once.

The 2 games after the trips to Perth worry me... especially considering Victorian teams' poor record the week after playing in Perth of late. We play Adelaide at home after the Fremantle game, and Collingwood at Telstra Dome, (only 6 day break  ) the week after the West Coast game. Both matches will be tough asks to win, especially the Magpies coming off only a 6 day break.
