The good news for me is, if every second message in here disagrees about what to do with Lachie, then hopefully Chris Scott couldn't be certain what we were going to do during prep either haha

It is going to be very, very sad if we have to bring him on in the 4th quarter when the game is out of reach.

Bruce getting first crack in best 22 is a fair approach in my view. He came on and played a really good game. Same with Marshall.

If we make Neale unavailable, it'll be tunstill. Tunstill will be sub for sure and Bruce will play the full game. I think we are implementing the same plan either way, just the name Neale is getting us a bit worked up.

Neale coming in after 3rd quarter might work out well for us even. Early in the game players will be fresh, tactics will be deployed to try and stress him out and see if he'll crack.

If we bring him on later, fatigue would've set in and players would be more focused on the game rather than testing out Lachie. He can fit in seamlessly and play to whatever the game situation is.

Initially I was outraged. Then spent a second thinking about it.

If we start with Lachie & are getting torched, subbing Bruce on isn't going to change that.

If we start with Lachie as sub & need him desperately, and he does his calf 5 minutes after being subbed in, we weren't winning anyways.
It was always a longshot him playing.

Let's see.

I'd have happily made Marshall or Levi the sub.

From what I saw today and last year, Neale basically completed the exact same warmup at the captains run. Light training (maybe more so this year) then drifted to the wing for some one touch handballing. A few other boys took it reasonably easy too including Dunkley, Will, Lohmann and Wilmot. I saw McCluggage only taking a few shots at the end also, may have missed him early.

Hard to take anything of real substance from what we all saw today, but was great to see the turnout of Lion supporters. Far outweighed Geelong for the captains run

That's too much disruption to the team which played and won the prelim. Neale is not that messiah at the moment anyway to disrupt what's working and parachute him in. He's had 1 game in like few weeks and match fitness is questionable.

I believe the crew that played the prelim all deserve first crack in the Grand Final.

This is all fair, but at that point I'm not sure what a quarter of Neale does for us. If he has to be subbed on earlier and does his calf then we are down a rotation. So yeah, Tunstill/Dev weren't doing anything as sub - but don't come with the risk.

The appeal of playing him for me was taking the chance that he could play 3 quarters and help overset the likely Clug tag which I think will kill us.

Once again - hope I'm very very wrong!

Fairly sure we decided whatever it is we're doing earlier in the week and we've been well on top of his capacity to play effectively.

The one thing that really gets under my skin with the Geelong taggers is that they basically block and harass illegally at every stoppage or centre bounce so that someone like Danger comes in full steam whilst our guys are being restrained.
Hopefully we've brought this to the attention of the ump honchos but I wouldn't be holding my breath. They got away with it incessantly against Hawthorn which helped Danger no end.

Them and Adelaide do my head in with that stuff. They always line up behind their opponent at stoppage and grab, shove, block etc. Atkins functionally has 8 arms because 2 of them are always around whoever he is playing on (Laird and Dawson do this too).

I'm not expecting any kind of umpiring of it, because the whole comp does it to a certain extent - geelong just take it to the logical extreme.

It's the same as them sheparding opponents out of marking contests. Tomorrow close is going to block and obstruct Harris at every slow play marking contest down the line, but it won't be called because he's very very good at doing it within the current rules (unlike Zork last week).

Without buying into the Scott is a great coach mantra they're excellently schooled in pushing the rules to the absolute limits and if they get pinged occasionally (which they hardly ever do) so what if you're getting away with it every other time.

It's actually a blight on the game but for whatever reason the umps completely ignore it by plucking one out of a marking contest once a game. All Zorks had to do was hold back a bit as he did and then pretend he was going for the mark. It's something the Geelong players have practiced and perfected to a professional level. Especially their clearance and stoppage holds/blocks which are the best in the AFL.

Pretty much my thoughts. Start Lachie and plays as long as possible. If he blows up, then bring on the sub.

Close is going to do the exact same thing as zork but he's going to put his arms above his head as if he's flying for the mark even though he's 5m away. He'll get away with it.

I think the Cats learnt a lot from the Tigers from 2017-20, who were absolute masters of the dark arts. Their fans whinging about free kick counts during that period were very annoying because it was a deliberate tiges tactic to push the rules until they broke and they were bloody good at it.

Tom Morris said that Brisbane are seriously considering using Lachie Neale as the sub

Do not like this at all. Sub Lachie to inject him into the game. Five minutes later ... bam. Calf or Quad goes and we are down a man with a healthy person on the bench watching the game.

Start him or drop him.

Joined 2 days with expensive tickets to sell, but no way of verifying. The meet up makes it seem legit, and yeah you might get a bit of paper in the swap but no guarentee it's genuine.

If they'd been an active member for years, maybe they are legit. But two days. That's a big no for me.

If you are thinking about it make him meet you at the gate and get the ticket people to verify it before you hand over money. That way you have people around while you are carrying cash as well.

If it ain't broke..

I'll eat my hat if Neale is sub, the media just get so desperate to come across as in the know, they probably just all went on what Morris said. So you warm him up and then he sits on the bench for however long to cool down...to come on...in likely cool weather. Its a recipe for disaster and just makes absolutely no sense.

Too late, I had to make a call, lucky for me he has 8 of these tickets available, not just the 2 he was initially advertising.....

Phew...., Now all my family can go..
