While I'll be the first to always lay into Essendon, weren't they coming to the "end" of their era around that time anyway. They really should have won 99 (therefore going back to back), but they really ****ed it up. (And boy did I enjoy watching it happen )

And on the flip side there are not so great sides that do go back to back. Adelaide are the prime example that come to mind.

It will be tough and there's usually at least one team who makes a great improvement. (What's the stat.. one team from the bottom eight, will make the top 4?)

Anyway, I agree. Put the lid back on and lets just make it thru the pre-season first!

My thoughts exactly. Essendon's 2000 flag should have been the second of two.

The other thing to remember with that Essendon side is that they overpaid too many guys and had to get rid of many of their middle rung players like Heffernan, Blumfield and Caracella.

Personally, I think we should do it if we are switched on. All of the other sides in the comp are either falling away or not quite ready yet. We are the only ones who have the mix spot on at this point.

Yeah, methinks his dreams have been a little bit vivid lately.

Anyway, I am very confident about the upcoming year but let us bear in mind that other teams are going to come out improved as well. Remember that we came off a tenth-place finish in 2006, and there is nothing that says another team isn't going to come out of nowhere. We cannot become too cocky, although I am sure the players are aware of this.

I think we will go back to back, but that is a long way off and many things could intervene in the meantime.

i also think you need a midfield that isnt solely rested on one player to pull you through.

I also think you need talent within your 22 players, not just one.

Congrats on getting judd carlton fans, but you all have this fantasy that hes going to get you off the bottom of the ladder, youre all dreaming, his injury problems will ressurect in 08 and youll be in exactly the same place as you were in 07, maybe a couple of spots up the ladder but thats only if judd is at his best.
