I keep hearing about all the injuries the Cats have had this year. As I don't take too much notice of Geelong, can anybody give me a general run down on the cats injury woes this year (ie. Player/how many games missed)? This is a serious question.

According to Mark Thompson Steven King has a broken leg, DAMN YOUR FACE JEFF WHITE!!!!!!!!

Not sure about all but these a rough estimates from mind ...

Wojcinski - Season after rd 2
Playfair - 4 weeks (broken jaw)
David Johnson - total 5 weeks - hamstrings
Paul Koulourotis - hamstring 2 weeks
Ottens - total 8 weeks - groin injuries
Enright - 4 weeks midseason, 2 weeks at the end for a shoulder injury
Steven King - achillies or ankle - about 5 weeks in total
Paul Chapman - ankle/hamstrings - about 5 weeks in total also

Im sure there are more but these are the main ones ...

Harley missed 11 games.
Ottens missed 9 games.
Sanderson missed 13 games.
King missed 6.
Enright missed 9.
Chapman missed 5.
Playfair missed 4.
S Johnson missed 12.
D Johnson missed 12.

Tom Harley - at least 6 matches
Steve Johnson - at least 4 matches, probably more early season
Joel Corey - missed a couple in the middle of the year when burning
Cameron Mooney - missed some early and in the middle of the year

There's more, only Gary Ablett, James Kelly, Kent Kingsley and of course Matty Scarlett played every game. That's the way it goes though. No excuses.

Think these players are main ones too!
Joel Corey 3 games knee
Steve Johnson 12 games ankles
Brenton Sanderson 13 games calf
Tom Harley 11 games hip?
Cameron Mooney 7 games hamstrings?/incl 2 for suspension
Darren Milburn 1 ?
Cameron Ling 1 illness
Peter Riccardi 1 game ?

Andrew Mackie about 4/5 hip
Charlie Gardiner 4 hamstring

and I think it was
Steven King 6
Enright 8
D Johnson 11
Chapman 3

And then ...
Paul Chambers 4 knee
Matthew McCarthy 6? shoulder
Tim Callan shoulder
Tom Lonergan hamstring
Will Slade OP
David Haynes quad

How thoughtless of me not to mention the above 1 week injuries we throughout the season

Also I don't keep track of the VFL injuries when asked for the main ones ...

Bartel also played every game.
Yes but he was knocked out in the first minute against Melb round 3 so really missed that game. :(

And Josh Hunt also missed a couple with his appendix.

No FastnetRock asked about injury woes. And not having a go, I included the mainly vfl players because they've played seniors apart from Slade that is. And the 1 week injuries involved main players.

Go CATS!!

Pretty Bad run...

Harley's the big one for mine. Not as bad as the Saints run with injuries IMO.

Really!
Cats 18+ games for the season = 14 players
Saints 18+ games for the season = 15 players
Cats & Saints 7+ games for the season = 29 players

Nope. The memorable VFL game he played was his first game for the year after missing the first 4 or 5 rounds .

Well, suspended during a VFL game would have to come in under attitude somewhere I guess.

such a cruel blow this one.

Well yeah. Considering that the 2 weeks isn't really 2 weeks, but all the time spent in building his form back up, and then the unrelated injuries at the end of the season...

That VFL game he was suspended in was his first game of the year [AFL or VFL].He got a week and then came straight back into the senior side.

Where have you come up with this attitude idea ?

The West Australian had an article which basically listed the number of games missed by each teams 1st 22. The Cats were on top by quite a margin, the Saints were the only other team in the top half of the injury ladder to make the finals (I think they were about 4th or 5th). The least injured teams were I think the Roos, Eagles and Crows (I think in that order, but it was a couple of weeks ago), which basically tells the story and explains why I rate the Saints and Cats as the outstanding teams in the comp.

From the media reports and from Thompsons direct quotes. Apparently he was told directly before the match not to do anything stupid as he was badly needed at the time.

He was losing his temper way too much. Passionate, but undisciplined.

Is there an online version of this article (or something similar) anywhere?

That West Article was a load of crap, like all West Articles, it was more of a pro dockers excuses article, which was full of inaccurate information, for the dockers injury list they included every player on there list but for other teams only included the best 22.

Maybe you can rate the Saints as a oustanding team in the comp with respect to injuries this year if they make or win the Grand Final but not Geelong

After all, Port last year and Brisbane the year before both had very average runs injury wise but still won a Grand final
