And free agents and Bailey Smith

What free agents? Tyson Stengle was delisted. So was Jack Martin.

Smith, Cameron and Dangerfield we traded for. Same with Stanley. Same with Bowes. Same with Ollie Henry. Same with Bruhn, not that that’s been of much use since other factors entered the equation.

It’s interesting isn’t it that we’ve rorted the system by NOT acquiring any listed free agents. Picking up discards like Stengle and Martin who are unwanted by their clubs and cut from the league is a rort.

Yet the very person accusing us of doing this - who’s team is stocked to the gills with top 20 draft picks and recently traded what was it, pick 27 in return for next years pick 3, only 5 years after their 3rd premiership in 4 years, was able to secure an All Australian key-forward a year after winning the minor premiership and 2 years after winning the first of those 3 flags.

Sounds like a rort to me.

So. We traded for our players too. We traded 3 first rounders for Jeremy Cameron.
3 average picks.
In a complex deal, the Cats sent picks No.13, 15 and 20 and a future fourth-round selection to the Giants in exchange for Cameron, the Giants' future second-round selection and a future second-round selection tied to Essendon from the earlier Jye Caldwell deal.

Oh so because they weren’t where you determine them to be good enough, they don’t count?

But they were our first rounders. They were our highest picks. They were to be OUR first crack at building our next team and our best currency to do it. And we gave it up.

And considering how infinitely better we are at turning low numbers into high returns, we probably would have plucked 3 stars out of the draft with them.

Now, back to which of our clubs has finished top of the ladder and then signed an all Australian full forward that season as a free agent.

Was it Richmond or Geelong? I can’t remember.

Still waiting AP. Did the Tigers or Cats pick up a FA to chuck in its forward line at an exhorbitant fee after winning a flag (and then choking one).

Wonder what that did to your Salary cap, out of interest? You had Martin on a fortune. Jack had won a few Colemans. He wouldn’t have been all that happy sharing a forward line with another big boy. Cotchin was a Brownlow medalist. Rance was the best key defender in the game and still on contract despite his injury. Prestia was there on good money and a prized recruit. The Suns couldn’t match whatever offer you threw at him. Must have been a decent amount. Seems suspicious.

I missed this rort . From 9 months ago. Ripping off the national disability scheme. Doesn't surprise me .

Lucky for you, they caught him.

Reverse cost of living allowance is required, along with a crackdown on shady side deals.

Morris Finance. Cotton On. I doubt Jeremy Cameron has ever paid for a single cow on his property.

I won’t be surprised when Charlie Curnow ends up there in October and a magical second story on his Jan Juc property appears overnight.

We get taxed enough merely by sharing a comp with you guys. Occupying a whole place in the premiership during an era where it’s supposed to be impossible to fail for 30 years yet you guys have done it, while taking 40 players out of the player pool that could be shared among the other clubs.

How often do you think about Geelong going 50+ years without winning a flag before 2007? We’ve gone 30 years without winning a flag, but it’s not something I think about in my day to day life.

Rarely, as it didn’t happen.

Been going to special school with Smasha, Blaisee and AP, mate?
