Geelong rorting the system

Im assuming the Curnow stuff is media bait for clicks and farm comments but if they do land him then geez the AFL need to get to work on finding out what else they can do for equalisation because its a genuine concern.

There is running a great club and then there is this. I refuse to believe everyone is willing to sacrifice their decade of great earning power for the good of the team. They need to start releasing anonymised salary data.
Curnow isn't coming to Geelong. Don't fall for that gimmick.

It's way too early in the week to be panicking.

You feel it don’t you. The net closing in. Every breath you take, slowly closing in.

Tick tock tick tock.

Yes photographing smith with his pants down is getting close to the truth.

And if geelong was doing something wrong it would have nothing to do with smith as he doesnt manage the salary cap. Neither does scott. So dont know how it would cause them to boil over given they would have no more knowledge then you or I.

But sure, keep making up your ridiculous tin foil fantasies to help you sleep better with geelongs superiority compared with your own club.

This tickled me, thank you

What has that got to do with rorting the system?

Anyway bris going to smash you. Just like wc used to and wait Hawthorn did in all gf we played lol 😂
Bridesmaids again i am afraid, the farms didn’t help lol 😝

Except the GF you lost to us, and the finals we’ve smashed the west coast in as well.

If Brisbane beat us I doubt it will owe a lot to your brilliant and highly intellectual posting on a website

Maybe telling some falcons boys to hold off a little bit before the draft.

Geelong are a very clever club. I can summarise how they rort the system, or out-think it.

  • Players given heads up on farms that are about to be conveniently approved for subdivision. Brilliant strategy because hard to prove foul play here, but if proven, blatant salary cap breach.
  • Coach gets $500K for a board role, which is blatantly above market rate for a business of that size.
  • Excessive funding for Kardinia Park per capita compared to other clubs facilities, giving them better facilities.
  • Uniquely shaped ground for themselves, no other clubs have access to it. No team in the AFL maybe apart from Gold Coast or GWS have this advantage (but far less pronounced).
  • Blatant conflicts of interest where the Hocking had such an influential role at the AFL, then he moves to Geelong. Also, the head coaches brother had an influential role at the AFL before coaching Essendon. I still believe the stand rule and 666 rule conveniently or indirectly were bought in to favour Geelong or they had off the record knowledge of it to prepare ahead of time.
  • Conflicts of interest where Dangerfield as the AFLPA head for so long can also be captain of the club. It should be rotated to reduce influence. Clearly favoured with the umpires after last weekend where he did play well, but received many dubious frees other did not receive.
The above is either very clever, or rorting, up to you to decide.

Can you provide a single piece of evidence for this? I have heard similar rumours for years but never seen a shred of evidence. I think this is the most credible conspiracy for salary cap circumvention.

There's a lot wrong with this, but the most laughable is the rule changes suiting Geelong.

The rule changes made Geelong's game style where we kick/marked across half back completely untenable. Geelong changed to a back half intercept and pressure forward rebound based game in 2022, a year after the changes went through. Ironically we changed a game style that copied Richmond, so did Collingwood through Macrae.

The rest seem to be a smattering of half truths or innuendo

Unlimited salary cap and we still didn't match your contract offer for Hopper 😂

And theres your answer. Two thirds of our best team come from the rookie draft.

We had the second best record between 2017-2020.

We have the second best record between 2021-2025. Wow. Those changes have made a huge difference. That’s really helped us way more than Brisbane, who’s record is 87-39 since 2020.

Our record this year at KP is 7-3.
Our record away from KP is 12-3.
Wow. We get so much help from playing there.

As far as I’m aware we have Jeremy Cameron and superstar ruckman Rhys Stanley living on farms. Wow. We are really flying high from those land deals.

This is just ridiculous. Its not even bay 13 worthy.

Just dont want to admit we turn so many rookies into guns enabling us to trade in star players due to the free cap room playing rookies and ex rookies give us.

Just cant admit we succeed by being brilliantly run.

Pathetic.

Geelong rorting the system.... fact, fiction or a whole a lot of delusional balderdash, I’ll let the reader be the judge!

Geelong Football Club M15 MK2

Footy Smarts:..... word is from Geelong hierarchy (or secret service) that Cats have ‘a plant’ at several AFL clubs including Tigerland and we’re using them for all for kinds of intelligence and skull duggery. Turns out we knew all along that Max Holmes was going to be the next Chris Judd MK2 but didn’t have the necessary pick in 2020 National Draft to get him, so we used our ‘Tiger plant’ (not sure who he or her is but they do and that’s all that matters) and then cunningly used their espionage skills and influence to organise the Tigers ‘brains trust’ to hand over their pick 20 to the Catters in order for us to get Max Holmes and much to us Catters delight and trickery, mission accomplished. 👍👍👍

Then with the Jacob Hopper trade, we realised we made an error in judgement in offering Hopper a deal (turns out the guys a dud and just impersonates being a AFL player), so we once again used our ‘Tiger plant’ to get the word out that Geelong was going to make a killing by getting Hopper and that the Tigers should get in on the act and steal the Cats thunder by upping the ante on the Hopper offer but also to make sure they get the deal done, to take his contract out to over a horrendous 7 years and once again our mission through trickery and deceit was accomplished with there being no end to the rorting and skull duggery going on down at the Cattery. 👍👍👍

Footy Smarts:... think I’ll send both the Tigers and Dimma, the then current Tigers ‘head honcho, w***er and soon to be deserter' at time a Christmas card this December thanking them for their worthy and invaluable contribution to the Geelong Football Club’s endless and shameless rorting. Yes, it is true Footy Smarts the Geelong Football Club is ‘the system’, MI5 MK2.

--------------------------------

Geelong traded their future first round pick with Richmond to secure Pick 20 in the 2020 AFL draft to select Holmes.

Jacob Hopper is contracted to the Richmond Tigers through 2029, having signed a seven-year deal in October 2022 after being traded from the GWS GIANTS. The trade saw Richmond acquire Hopper and picks 53 and 63, while GWS received Richmond's future first-round selection and pick 31

The term for using someone as a "plant" to secretly deceive or achieve a hidden agenda is often referred to as a double agent (in espionage), a stooge (a dupe or accomplice), or an insider who is working for an outside organization. Depending on the specific context, other words like shill, ringer, or co-conspirator can also apply to someone secretly placed or acting in league with another.

MI5, officially known as the Security Service, is the United Kingdom's domestic counter-intelligence and security agency responsible for protecting the country against threats like terrorism and espionage. The name "MI5" originated in the First World War as a designation for its role as the fifth section within the Directorate of Military Intelligence MI5 GFC.jpg

The only conspiracy theory here that has any substance is that the AFL is sufficiently concerned to carry out an investigation in the first place.
Of course, were Geelong to fit Curnow in their salary cap then these concerns would be amplified.

You mean like how they audited Port Adelaide and how next year they will audit two other clubs? Highly concerning for the whole league then.
